Need Help with Reducing Pred
I started November 2019 on 40 mg of prednisone with
Actemra
to follow about two months later and felt such relief from my achey body and severe headaches. About 2 months ago I was able to go down to 2 mg of pred and still felt good (able to walk 3 miles and play tennis twice a week).

GCA?
I am currently taking 4mg of prednisone and injecting
Actemra
every four weeks. I upped my prednisone by 5mg of pred for ten days with no improvement. Head feels tight and back of head and sides are sore to touch. These symptoms seem to change, not always the same intensity.

Rheumatologist Visit: take Hydroxychloroquine and PMR isn't a vasculitis
I did ask her about
Actemra
as a steroid sparer but she says in U.S. it is not approved for PMR. Wish there was more research being done into biologics for PMR.

Update on possible GCA
I’m going to stay on my 4mg of prednisone and continue with once monthly
Actemra
injections until I see my rheumatologist in six weeks. I will have another blood test in two weeks. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all the constructive comments from so many of you.

New member, but not new to RA
Hiya, My name is Evy and I am a 41 year old woman who lives in Belgium with her 2 cats. I am a member of some running communities here on HealthUnlocked and thought to join this group too. I have been diagnosed with RA early 2013, when I was 32 years old, after struggling with pains in hands and feet

Timing of third vaccination with Actemra
This is not advice but merely an account of how I finally navigated the timing of vaccination 3 in the TCZ cycle, for those who may be in the same boat. Studies are showing that the vaccine is showing efficacy after 1 to 2 weeks. My TCZ jabs are 3.5 weekly, so I went right in the middle at 13 days,

10 Years...journey over?
Was on
Actemra
tapered to every 3 week injections. Well my Creatinine took a bump up and though rare, the only reason anyone could figure it happened was the
Actemra
. So, last dose was Sept 10th. Creat came down, and I feel good. So...after a 10 year journey, no meds, no symptoms.

Decision about resuming Tocilizumab.
There doesn’t seem to be anything other than Tocilizumab/
Actemra
or increased Pred. to treat this with. To add to my worries I have been diagnosed with dilation in the ascending Aortic artery which I believe to be linked to extra cranial GCA. So far my Rheumatologist has not responded to my emails.

Dizziness related to actemra or prednisone
I have been on prednisone since april and started also on
actemra
every other week at the same time. Recently my rheumy started me on
actemra
every week while tapering off prednisone. I have been dizzy and nauseated almost every day since being on it every week. Anyone else had similar issues?

I share concerns, I'm sharing some good news!!
I'd been on 40 mg of prednisone and dropped 10mg in October and restarted
Actemra
. I sure didn't feel great but in early November, my rheumatologist thought we should drop another 10mg....I was nervous and just felt lousy.

Has anyone in US have a hard time paying for Actemra?
Rheumatologist wants me to take
Actemra
because pred is causing too many adverse side effects. No sure how it is in other countries but extremely expensive here. My insurance will pay half but I still have to pay over $1600 a month. I cannot afford it.

Dose pack of methyl prednisone while on 4 mg of prednisone
I am currently on 4mg of prednisone daily and auto injections of
Actemra
once a month. This is my sixth year trying to keep my PMR under control. Things have been going well for the last four months. Unfortunately I have two herniated disc’s due to a kayak trip.

Just curious on who has been on pred and Actemora for long periods of time and if you successfully got off it
Who on this forum has been on prednisone and
Actemra
for long periods of time and successfully got off it/them? I remember PREMPRO said 12 years and I am assuming still on it. Can GCA go into remission? I am currently on 4mg of pred and weekly injections of

Back up to 40 mg pred
Doctors office is now going to try to get my insurance to pay for
Actemra
so I can taper down again from pred. It’s going to take a while for that to happen since my insurance won’t pay for it and I’m not sure what they have to do to try to get it approved. So, you were all correct!
