Sed rates and IVIG (gammagobulin infusion).
Normally I’m normal low sed rate because I’m being treated with low dose prednisone and
Actemra
. My sed rate day after infusion. Came back at 101. Trying to get requisition and in redo sed rate today. Just wondering if anyone knows if IVIG will cause this to happen.

She looked at my temples, etc. she was emphatic about getting me down and off the prednisone, wanted to add
Actemra
if the tapering isn’t working. This is her taper: I was at 37.5 when I saw her Immediately drop to 30 In 8 days drop to 25.

ACTEMRA Update
I did have great hopes for the
actemra
, even though the cost would have left me with zilch money. It started off so good. Now the reaction is so bad and my numbers are increasing, what is the point? I hope my side effects from prednisolone are not as bad as they were before being a lower dosage.

cost of drug
After talking to my GP and rheumatologist, from their opinion, I made the decision to try the
Actemra
, only to call my Medicare Part D coverage to find it is not a covered drug. The out of pocket cost would be $12,000.00 Sigh!!!!!!!!!!

Steroids/Actemra/Addison’s = GCA
Heading back to
Actemra
.... my feeling is if you have the opportunity to take the drug you should. I never had an infection or any of the reactions that you can get from the drug.

temporal arteritis for two years now
I started weekly
Actemra
injections and they seem to be helping, but they give me such sores in my mouth, toungue, and throat. They also destroy my stomach and intestines. I'm at my whit's end now. My insides are shaking on 40 mg prednisone and I will reduce to 35 tomorrow.

Actemra
Actemra
has been really keeping my pain tolerable, however I needed a crown and was advised to discontinue my weekly shot two weeks prior to procedure. That was on February 26. I’m still off because the crown is not back from lab. I’m struggling severely with pain the last two days.

Salumibab
He then was looking at the plan to put me on
Actemra
, and said that this other new drug called Salumibab was actually having better results than
Actemra
, and he would be putting me on it shortly. Has anyone any experience with thus drug?

Actemra Update
Things were going so well with the
Actemra
. A headache one day a week I was handling. Why have things gone so wrong????? I have been back on preds for the last week. No
Actemra
until next week and I come off preds again. My body was itching all over and I came out in a rash.

The
Actemra
is probably the culprit, I can't imagine such a low dose of RAYOS is effecting me? What is interesting is my glucose is not affected like it was in the early days of PMR and higher doses of RAYOS. I am not sure, waiting to hear from my doctor to see what she has to say.

Actemra side effects
Not sure if I am suffering side effects from
Actemra
. The last few days I have been itchy all over the body, also had symptoms similar to coming down with the flu. I saw a gp this morning and he said it was an allergy and no injection until I feel better.

Actemra Update
I have noticed just one side effect with the
Actemra
. I have my injections Tuesday lunch time and each Thursday I am having a bad headache. I can cope with feeling unwell one day out of 7. I might end up penniless but at least I feel so much better. My blood test last week was my best one yet.

For the moment, Prednisone free!
Mom continues to receive the
Actemra
infusions every month, and at this point we are all unsure as to when those will be discontinued, if at all. All of Moms blood work is normal at this point. It is still so early only being 7 days away from the Prednisone, but she seems to be doing very well.
