Another Pred journey
I have been 5 years on Pred and 3 years on
Actemra
A bit of up’s and downs but did very well with no side effects ( except bone loss) Lately got to 3 and poof back to square one again after major flare. Up to 20 mg with a probable 2 year tapering schedule.

Tapering while on Actemra
What is a good taper plan while on
Actemra
? Can I go faster? What would you recommend as a drop every month or every 6 weeks? Does DSDL apply while on
Actemra
? It seems like lots of people go down faster with
Actemra
. Thank you. You all are my lifeline

GCA Questions
(I’ve also been on
Actemra
since November.) I’m doing pretty well, but I wanted to check in regarding my tapering. I’m down to 8 mg. (from 9, about a week ago), and will have stayed there 1 month when I get labs and then see my rheumy next month.

Can't squat or raise arms without pain?
I am on
Actemra
and I asked her if I should feel a boost when I get the infusions. She seemed confused and could not answer the question. She is an assistant to my rheumatologist. But mainly I want to know if anyone else has the leg and arm symptoms I have.

Remission
I have been off prednisone since last July, and
Actemra
since last October. I have not had any further GCA symptoms. I had an appointment with my rheumy earlier in the week and he feels it is safe to say it is now in remission.

Helpful forum
My head CT was negative .He says to consider
Actemra
infusions so I can reduce my Prednisone. Yesterday my CRP dropped to 6.5, and sed rate to 6. Your thoughts. I value your knowledge and experiences. Thanks!

Doctor reinstated infusions every 4 weeks instead of 8
Am I correct in wanting to continue on
Actemra
? Believe me, none of us want to be on these drugs but I’m not feeling normal with a headache always in the background.

Methotrexate added to Pred now
I was on
Actemra
before but it was causing worse headaches so I had to stop it. This past week, I was on 10.5mg but had a flare so had to go back up to 15mg. The flare head pain was so bad I was fantasizing about being in the hospital on a morphine drip.

Update on skin lesions
I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything like this on
Actemra
. I am hoping to be able to go back on it soon. I will let you know if I find out anything helpful from blood tests. Best wishes to you all.

Questioning my doctors decision that I’m in remission
I’ve been on
Actemra
for almost 2 years with excellent results. I felt like myself pretty quickly. 6 months ago rheumatologist halved my dosage of monthly infusions. Still felt great. Then he wanted me on infusions every 8 weeks instead of 4.

Tapering Regime while on Kevzara (or other biologic)
Or possibly it would be similar to reducing when using
Actemra
or Humira? Or should I just follow the usual DSNS method I've used before reducing .5 mg each time? (By the way, in the States, you can get this drug free from the company, Kevzara Connect.

prolia and Actemra.
She asked when I had the last one and I told her I had only ever had one and that was before I started
Actemra
over a year ago. She looked back at the results of that and said “Oh, it showed you have osteoporosis! Why didn’t we treat it.?!”

Update on severe skin lesions
Just wanted to give an update with regard to the severe skin rash/lesions I experienced in November My GP diagnosed it as urticarial vasculitis but my rheumatologist thought it might be an adverse drug reaction (belated) to

PMR flare, how much pain?
Also on
Actemra
so CRP and ESR pretty useless as indicators. I am managing and my symptoms are really minor compared to some of others in the community, but would value your input nonetheless

Optic nerve narrowing
Stopped
Actemra
2 months ago. My eyesight in my left eye has been changing rapidly over the past several months. It's gotten really blurry. I've never needed glasses for distance, but now it's hard to drive at night or see the TV very well.

Actemra; The elephant in the room. Is it working or not working for you?
I know one person personally who has been on
actemra
for two years. I visited her recently and asked how she's doing. She is miserable and more crippled up than ever before--still on
actemra
and 5 mg. of prednisone (she's been on pred since 2008) I know many of you benefit from
actemra
.
