Pulmonary coccidioidomycosis mimicking malignancy associated with Sweet's syndrome (acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis), March 2024.
- Sweet's syndrome in a 51 year old man.
- Sweet's syndrome had developed secondary to coccidioidomycosis (Valley fever), a fungal infection that mainly affects the lungs.
- CT scan of the chest showed a lung mass with enlarged lymph nodes, suggesting cancer. However, radiographic findings in coccidioidal infection can resemble malignancy. Lung biopsy showed no malignant cells, and immunohistochemical marker CK7 (cytokeratin-7), a marker for primary lung cancer, was negative. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...
