Hi Megan,
I'm sorry to hear that your Sweet's syndrome (SS) is causing you so many problems. Some people with SS need to take another medication alongside their steroids.
Here's a full-list of medications: helpforsweetssyndromeuk.wor...
During times of stress, steroid dosage sometimes needs to be increased: helpforsweetssyndromeuk.wor...
If your SS has developed secondary to another condition, then your SS might not settle down until the underlying condition is treated and brought under control.
In some people, SS can be triggered by upper respiratory tract infection, e.g. colds, flu or flu-like illness.
Be careful about herbal supplements and avoid supplements that boost the immune system. These can prevent your steroid medication from working properly.
Some people with SS find that overexposure to sunlight or UV light, e.g. sunbeds, can trigger their condition.
Some people with SS find minor skin damage can trigger their condition. This might mean that you need to be careful when using certain beauty products or treatments, e.g. harsh exfoliators or waxing.
All the best with your GCSEs, and if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Michelle.
I used dapsone for about a year and it seemed to get my sweets under control. Dapsone does need to be monitored by a doctor as it can have other side effects.
