can raynauds cause weightgain?

about 6 years ago i joined slimming world and went on to lose 8 stone. i managed really well to maintain my target weight however about 2 years ago i was diagnosed with raynauds and at about this time started to find it harder to maintain my weight, i have probably put about half a stone back on, although i eat very healthily, i wonder if anyone else finds that this happens to them?

Well done on your weight loss - I lost just over 4 stone a couple of years ago with Slimming World, despite having underactive thyroid. I also have limited cutaneous systemic scleroderma with secondary Raynaud's. Having underactive thyroid definately slows down weight loss as it affects your metabolism.

I have wondered about this issue and have Googled it long and hard for several months but haven't managed to find any evidence of Raynaud's or scleroderma affecting weight loss or weight maintenance. My wondering continues without any foundation or evidence.

well done for your weight loss too, can you tell me about limited cutaneous systemic scleroderma with secondary Raynaud's, as i havent heard of this before, to be honest im still quite new to this, last time i saw my dr my attacks were not so troublesome, i had a blood test but it cam back ok. however they have progressed to more frequent attacks now and for much longer. also now when the circulation returns (this can be an hour or more) my fingers seem to have a purple tinge to them. i have an appointment next friday so will see what he says.

I doubt that you get weight gain with Raynaud's and scleroderma. I have had it for many years and seem to put weight on when I eat sweets, which I do when I have Iloprost treatment.

hey there .. well done you for your weight loss ... i have serve raynauds and im finding really hard to put on the weight .. as im freezing all the time .. i will feel really hungry then once i ve cooked and i about to eat my food .. i cant !!!!

I think generally with raynauds/scleroderma you tend to lose weight due to trying to stay warm. I have just been diagnosed with an underactive thyroid gland, so it might be worth getting yours checked, as this causes weight gain
