I am that child, 40 years on! Except I was never given the diagnosis until much later in life - I think it is better to find out earlier and get support. One of the best things will be that you will be able to communicate with school - I had a horrible time in PE lessons having to wear inadequate clothing.

The majority of people in the UK who have Raynaud's are teenagers who develop it around puberty. In most cases this will get better or even go away by their early twenties. As the other person who replied said it can be difficult for youngsters especially at school when they don't want to appear different to their friends. The Raynaud's & Scleroderma Association have a free leaflet called Raynaud's in Youngsters, which is very helpful to give to staff at the school to help them to understand the condition better and to explain why the child may need to wear additional clothing for PE in the winter. They will also help should you require a letter of explanation. Give them a call on 01270872776. The leaflet can be downloaded from the RSA website: raynauds.org.uk.
