Benefits

I have had Raynauds since childhood, I suppose I just got on with it in the past but now know that I will have to go 'on the sick' as I am unable to work. What benefits should I be claiming, as it seems very confusing as to what I can claim for and what I can't. Any advice would be most welcome. Thank you.

Hi there, these sites should give you a start to get an idea about what is out there.

The benefits system is a bit of a minefield. In most areas there are voluntary agencies who can provide advice and support for people with disabilities. I can't comment on who it would be in your area of the country I am afraid, I only know what is about near me.

In the job centres there should be Disability Employment Advisors who can help you to find either appropriate work given your limitations or discuss the support financial or practical that you might need. Hopefully there might be something out there that you can do work wise with the right support rather than have to rely on benefits.

All my best

Lucy

Do you have primary or secondary raynauds ? What treatment do you have for it ? There is so much out there to help - I'm lucky to be on a good treatment plan that allows me to live a pretty 'normal' lifestyle. Ok I actually wear ski wear to go shopping etc but I can still do things. There's always hope is what I'm getting at 😃

hi Doogal

I am not sure about benefits. MY husband has Reynauds and when it is cold and damp he can wake up with claws....I rec'd ideas for treatment from these forums and the following works for him....Twice daily...Ginko Biloba 120mg and Vit B3 100mg. It is such a low dose of Vit b3 that there should be no flushing...but with him there was at first...If he takes it twice a day he hardly notices it.
