I went back to working with children after take 6 months off to let the methotrexate get into my system. I’ve been back 3 weeks and this morning I feel awful. I’ve got the sorest throat and feel achy well extra achy. I feel really down I just want to work I’ve always been in education and have always worked. I just don’t know what else I can do I have no experience in any other field. I’m 45 with a long term medical condition. I can’t work in the cold or in the heat. I have awful skin rashes and I need time off for medical checks don’t really feel like I’m much of a catch !!

I completely understand. You might have to live around your working hours a little differently - are you taking naps? You can’t keep going until you crash you need to pre-empt a bit. Take vitamin D3 in oil tablet form, consider d-ribose for fatigue if you have it, do all preparation on evenings so you can get up as late as possible, can you get a cleaner to reduce work at home? Get to bed early etc. Sometimes when I am at my most frustrated I make sure I am doing everything in my control - it won’t always be enough but it does help (for me). Getting a cleaner and my husband reminding me to look after me first (he has a weekly reminder on his phone!) were the biggest two things that took a huge weight off me. I work full time, although my work allows me to work from home sometimes which i appreciate you can’t do. I also do all the cooking on a weekend day so evenings and lunches are done through the week. I hope there’s something here that might help a bit xxxxxx
Hi Sami. I the same age as you and was a windscreen fitter till I got fired under capability grounds. I claimed ESA from August this year and have now been told I can't have as I can work. I have said, soon as I go into a supermarket, in a car for the first time, first thing in the morning etc. I can't bend my fingers. I was told I can do a job so no government help. You pay in all your life and when it comes to getting a little help, I'm told 'sorry no help for you'.
Hi avtargill, read your reply to Sami, regards your application to get aid, go to the C. A. B. and they can make an appeal for you which is taken more seriously and has proven successful. Good luck.
Ur not on ur own I work for the police and I've had to move to a different role because I'm just to tired to work a shift pattern it's a job I loved and was gud at and after 8 years moving into an office role had been a shock to the system I've only managed 1 week in the new job as I had gastroenteritis and have struggled to feel normal since I'm going bak to work nxt week just hope it i don't get ill again.
I am completely sympathetic to you... and while I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.. I am sorry but it's kind of nice to know there's some one in a similar situation (I'm so sorry at how that sounds) I am having more and more time off from work as my illness fluctuates in it's limitations. I also work in school and have a family. I feel I'm not doing any one thing well... don't know how much longer I can go on but I am a bit scared about the options. If you ever want to 'let off steam' I am only too happy to listen. Good luck x
Thank you. Means a lot It’s a lonely illness and a really frustrating one. I totally understand what you mean about having someone understand you. Nobody can unless they have it. X
