Idiopathic Hypersomnia

I have recently received a diagnosis of Idiopathic Hypersomnia. I was a bit shocked as my consultant had previously told me I had an Atypical sleep disorder. I started taking Modafinil 6 months ago and it actually works.

I feel that those 2 words are about to potentially turn my life around in some ways. I got called by my GP today to have a blood pressure test and an ECG. My boss has asked if I can still drive. I saw a Neurologist a few weeks back on something completely unrelated at the time and am waiting for an MRI on my brain and spine. I'm now wondering if something may pop up in that?

Does anyone have any information they could share please on this and how they cope, explain it to people in a way they would understand etc.

Many thanks
