I have prescription sleeping pills but they don't help much. My doctor suggested trying melatonin as a supplement. I've just bought some and wondered if anyone else has used it?
Melatonin: I have prescription sleeping pills... - Sleep Matters
Melatonin
Hi Cheri - My hubby and I use it frequently.. I would recommend starting out at 3 Mg and increase as needed. We both have frequent insomnia, so we take 10 mg each. We just do not take it every night as it can stop working as well. You might also try L-Tryptophan and Calcium.=, Magnesium and Zinc formula. They both work well too. And you can trade the nights you take them so you aren't taking them consistently...I hope some of this helps... Let us know how you are doing...
Thanks this is helpful. The ones I've got are 1.9mg - lady in the Health food shop said try taking every day. Apparently it's good for other stuff as well as sleep. First one last night plus sleeping pill (dormicum - spanish) and managed 7 hours (2 more than normal). Obviously can't judge for at least a week of sleep patterns - I'll report back!
That is wonderful when it happens, huh? The other thing that might help is Bromelain...
Going to try one thing at a time so can tell what effect - then on to the next if necessary! I've been putting up with stressful sleep for too long!!!
Yes - The interesting thing about the Bromelain is that before I had my sleep test, and got the CPAP, I was about as exhausted as one could get. I swore if I could die from fatigue only, I would have been six feet under. But I started taking Bromelain and even though it didn't bring me back as well as the CPAP has done (it is a miracle to me - literally!), it went a good way toward refreshing sleep. Best luck with each thing you try!
Hi! I take 15mg nightly and it helps me sleep. Also 50mg of benadryl oil nightly.
The dry pressed tablets dont work as well as the oil pearls. (otc)
thanks. I had a choice of pills or drops and I'm useless with the latter - too much or too little every time! Both you and CaerylUSA are taking much more than dose I was advised - but I'll try it at the low level first!
Keep in mind that for me at least, I started low and slow and worked up to what works best for me =). It's good for you to do the same thing
