Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone else here has been diagnosed with Narcolepsy. I was diagnosed January of 2015 with Narcolepsy and Cataplexy. I'm wondering what treatments and medications others with N have found helpful. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I was diagnosed with narcolepsy about 10 years ago (I’m 32) mine is atypical, and fortunately I don’t suffer from cataplexy but my sleep is constantly poor, and I have EDS, and also the occasional sleep paralysis and hypnagogic hallucinations.

I take Modafinil, have done ever since I was diagnosed. It definitely helps but I still get excessively tired most of the time. I just have to remind myself how much worse I would feel without the medication.

But mostly I manage my narcolepsy by accepting that I can’t do as much as other people. I work part time, and I rest as much as I can and try not to fill my spare time too much with lots of stuff that will wear me out. I’ve also been exercising more recently which I think has helped a little.
