Risks for nocturia

I am probably "preaching to the choir" here, but it's always a good idea to remember that there are some things that we can do to reduce our risks for nocturia and urinary incontinence, or to reduce our urinary symptoms. Two of the most common things that can be done to help overall health are to:

1. Stop smoking

2. Maintain a healthy weight through a healthy diet and moderate exercise

Recent research studies are really pounding this message home, and so if you smoke or need to trim a few pounds, seeing these short articles might help you take the steps you need - if you haven't already - to improve overall health as much as you can.

There are smoking cessation programs through insurance providers and often through local clinics and medical centers. These are often free. A referral from your doctor to a registered dietician (an R.D. - not a nutritionist) can help you sort your diet so that you can have a truly healthy diet that will also take into consideration all your health concerns and issues.
