Welcome Brandie. People who have sickle cell can in fact put on weight however because we expend so much energy fighting our disease thereby our metabolism is higher thereby we are usually slim. Usually not always. Like any disease it varies from person to person.
It will vary per person but we defienelty can get fat, overweight or whatever people would want to call it. My sister is overweight for her height and it makes living difficult because she can’t exercise much or at all without ended in pain. I have gained 20 pounds in the last 4 years and it’s seems easier to get heavier than to get lighter.
