The benefits of meditation

Meditation has really helped me through a lot of turbulence in my life and I would recommend meditation to everyone. Meditation has so many benefits including reducing stress, anger and anxiety.

I was taught to meditate by a Buddhist monk when I visited a temple in north London and personally I think that being taught by someone who understands exactly how meditation works is one of the best ways to be introduced to meditation.

However, I understand that this may not always be possible for everyone and even I cannot always go to a temple to meditate. Thanks to the modern age there is guided meditation apps and guided meditation on YouTube.

I personally have used the following apps:

Calm

Insight Timer

On YouTube I generally just type guided meditation into the search and I pick the ones that are between 15 – 25 minutes.

The one I recently used which I found interesting was:

LET GO of Anxiety, Fear & Worries: A GUIDED MEDITATION ➤ Harmony, Inner Peace & Emotional Healing.

I also recommend choosing guided meditation based on what you need on that day, for example if you need guided meditation to help you sleep, guided meditation to let go of anger, guided meditation to reduce stress, etc.

I recommended also going to at least one guided meditation session with other people; for those who live in North West London there is a free class in Hampstead on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I will provide the link below:

I really hope this is helpful and remember there are so many different forms of meditation, guided, not guided, a group session etc. You need to find one that suits you. I usually do both meditation which is largely silent and focuses on the breath and I occasionally throw in a guided meditation as well.
