I've been on faslodex for 4.5 years and doing well. I also take Ibrance. Are you on faslodex only ? Faslodex works well for many of us and I hope you have great success!

I was on it for almost 6 years with Anastrozole. My best combo yet as far as hardly any side effects.

…never heard of this combo. Was this your first line treatment?

Yes, that is a strange combo. Both diminish estrogen, but by different mechanisms. Usually fulvestrant is paired with a CDK4/6 inhibitor. Fulvestrant is stronger, in terms of eliminating estrogen. It did the trick for me, for two years. Within a week of starting it, I went from weak and incapacitated to being able to run uphill.

Yes, it was my first line. My onc had been practicing for 40 years and I had complete trust in him. I got about 6 1/2 years out of it! We moved then and he’s retired now, but I feel good about the cancer center where I go now. I only got about 2 years from Ibrance, so was disappointed with that. Now on Verzenio and Letrozole. So far so good, except for the fatigue 😬

The very best to you with Letrozole and Vernon! (That “old guy” was smart!! I’m writing that combo down…)

Hi I have been on Faslodex almost 3 years. some side effects, but working. I have had breast cancer on and June 14th will be 34 years. I was 42 when my first cancer was found. over the years I have had multiple biopsies and hysterectomy at 44. in 2019 I had bilateral mastectomies. In July 2021 cancer found mid-sternum, surgery followed by radiation. That is when I started on Faslodex. So far its good. I am still here. Thank God. I am a registered nurse and I just retired, so I was able to work right thru all this. Again prayers and faith and a positive attitude works best. God Bless you.

You had a hysterectomy at 44! I’m assuming a total hysterectomy?

Yes!! Love it.

It took the place of Anastrozole 3 months ago and ALL my hip pain is GONE!!

Scans next month. I’m praying I’m stable. I can stay on this combo FOREVER (Faslodex and Ibrance)!

this is what I am on. I just do not tolerate the Ibrance very well and am very fatigued

My fatigue comes and goes, but it’s so worth the ease of these medications. I have no side effects other than occasional fatigue. 😊

You are very fortunate some days all I do is lay around but most days absolutely no energy

Nocillo profile image

I am the same. Pretty much sit around and play on my phone. Doing about 10 minutes of something productive and then I have to rest again. So frustrating!

I had hip and shoulder pain with anastrozole and letrozole, but not with fulvestrant. They work differently. The first two block estrogen (aromatase inhibitors) but fulvestrant is a SERD - estrogen receptor degrader. For me, fulvestrant and an oral SERD had no side effects and did a much better job of getting rid of estrogen. Hope it works a long long time for you.

I have been on Faslodex only for 9+ yrs, only recently has a possible progression showed up that we are following and I have never taken any of the 4/6Inhibitors with it, only Xgeva for 5 yrs for bone strength

I have been on Faslodex only for 5 years and doing well. I have a tumor in my liver. No signs of progression so far. Liver function tests and tumor markers are in the normal range. I have MRI every 5 months. Good luck to all of us in our journey.

How are you doing Marianne? Been thinking about you. How is your new treatment going?

mariootsi profile image

My arm with the nerve damage is constantly burning and tingling. Can't use it. Will start Truqcap June 5th. Hope it works. Went for pet scan today. See onc June 5th for results. I would feel fine if it weren't for my arm. Hope you are well. So kind of you to ask!

CTGirl1962 profile image
CTGirl1962 in reply tomariootsi

I’m so glad to hear the new treatment is going well!! I’m so sorry about your nerve pain. I, too, have nerve pain in my left arm (thank God it’s not my right!!). The pain was so bad that I went to the ER last weekend because I thought I had a blood clot. They did a CT scan and found it was a nerve that was being pinched by the damage in my spine at the Cervical/Thoracic area. There is nothing we can do about it because it is what it is. Mets are there for life. They put me on Gabapentin and it seems to help a little bit. I’ll take it!! Let us just try and enjoy the beautiful weather!!!! 🩷🩷🩷

Love & Hugs,

Jody

Jody I actually haven't started Truqap yet. Gabapentin doesn't work for me. Glad it does for you.

I’ve been on faslodex and ibrance for 6 years. I feel well although I tire easily. Other than hair issues (thinning and loss of shine) I’ve had no side effects. Good luck on your journey. I wish you every success
