Well, as I navigate a much shorter life span than I had expected, I am accelerating my volunteering efforts in the dog/cat rescue space. In short, I always thought I would retire at 60 and dedicate my 15++ retirement years to dog/cat rescue work. I have been a volunteer in the space for almost two decades.
My onc said I can only count to 5 to 6 more years so I need to multiply up on my true calling efforts.
I know everyone is struggling but if you have the health, energy and space in your heart to donate a dog/cat collar or toy or leash or bedding, please send me a private message. I will be going to Mexico to help street dogs/cats every other month to help.
Please don't be offended, I am not soliciting, if you respond or want to help, it should be in a SUPER SUPER POSITIVE SPIRIT!
Love, cheers and paws.... and F MBC!
Thank you from the bottom of my (still cancer free) heart!

That’s exactly what I dreamed of, taking care of cats and dogs after retirement. I’ll be happy to donate something for your cause! I live in Italy tell me how can I do.🤗
5-6 years may be way short of the time you have left! Alot of us with MBC are living alot longer than that! I was diagnosed with MBC from the get go in 2004 and think I will make it to 20. I've met a number of 15 and 20 year survivors and one 30 year survivors! The survival stats are pulled down by people with really aggressive cancers that don't respond well to treatment, those whose cancer is really advanced when they are diagnosed and those who don't have the resources to follow a treatment plan. That said, I think it's wonderful that you volunteer with dog and cat rescue groups! One of the things that brought my husband and me together was our love for dogs and cats! In the twenty years we've been married, we've had 1 to 3 dogs most all the time and 4-7 cats all the time. We currently have one dog and six cats and probably will be outlived by at least two of our cats! Our daughters all have cats and we can count on them to either adopt or find loving homes for our pets when we die. All our pets are rescues. Our dog is one the local county animal shelter asked my husband to adopt as they knew we'd give her a loving home. She'd been taken as "evidence" by the police in a cock fighting case and been in the shelter for over a year and was the dog that sat on their laps as they worked sitting down, LOL. They couldn't adopt her out until the judge released her! Isn't that crazy! Our pets bring alot of joy into our lives, and give us lots of laughs. Yesterday morning, when I got up and came out of the bedroom, there was a red Coke bottle top floating in their water dish.....just thinking about that makes me giggle! Our dog, Lou, found our most recent cat addition, a tiny injured kitten near the side of the road in a marshy area. My husband named him LC for Lou's cat. LC livens up the place alot, running, jumping and climbing all over the house (and apparently dropping Coke bottle tops into the water dish!). I grew up with animals and love having pets. We had a parrot, too, but s/he had a stroke and died. We miss the words that came outta that mouth! LOL I hope that you will be caring for animals ten years from now and enjoying life!
