Has anyone tried acupuncture to ease pain? I have needle phobia, but heard about laser acupuncture.
Would love to hear about your experience before I give it a try.

I used acupuncture to ease hot flashes and gastrointestinal problems. It really works for hot flashes! I was also experiencing severe joint pain in the hands, but the acupuncturist said that acupuncture does not work well for that kind of pain. Maybe talk to an acupuncturist to see if they recommend it for your type of pain? I was also scared, but the needles are tiny and shouldn't hurt if they're put in the right places. I got an endorphin rush after my sessions, as if I had just run a mile. It was quite pleasant.
Thank you, Life8888, for sharing your experience. Hope you do well now.Did your gastrointestinal issues resolved?

Hi Dully, I was getting acid reflux, and it stopped after I stopped taking turkey tail mushroom capsules... The acupuncturist also recommended fewer protein shakes. I think the effect of acupuncture was temporary, maybe 1-4 days, and then the gastrointestinal symptoms came back. I'm having nausea now on xeloda, but haven't yet found an acupuncturist since moving. I'm not sure if acupuncture helps with nausea, but hopefully I'll get a chance to ask. Hope this info is helpful to you!
Thanks again. I have some pain, manageable, and cramps. Some people swear by acupuncture, so I thought I'd ask.I suffer no other side effects - with the exception of my thin, wavy nails. I attribute my well being to my diet: no dairy, no wheat, everything homemade, often from scratch. For me, the work I put in my cooking is worth it because I feel good.
Ginger, lemon, mint is a great lemonade to help nausea. Also eating very thin slices of lemon with honey. Try buckwheat honey, it has special properties.
Happy Easter,
Dully
Happy Easter to you as well! I'm afraid I don't have the energy to cook as you do, but you've made me think I should find ways to do it. Thanks for the nausea tips! I still feel like a newbie in dealing with it. For thin nails, I'm using the Onsen brand cuticle lotion, started using it every day because my nails were shrinking and turning black after starting Xeloda. It makes my nails less brittle and more normal-looking. I also have cramps at times, especially in the legs, and I take magnesium 200mg / Nuun hydration tablets for it, as needed because the magnesium can cause diarrhea and the Nuun tastes a little too sweet. My onc also says to make a point of staying hydrated for cramps, and the symptom doctor she recommended me to suggested calf and leg stretches before going to bed. I get back pain and resolve it best with ice packs and lidocaine roll-ons. All the best!
Lots of good advice, thank you.No supplements for me, I try, and succeed for now, to get everything I need from food.
I do recommend eating liver, chicken or beef, at least once a week.
Cheers
Dully
Thanks! I just ordered some California buckwheat honey since that's where I live... hope it's okay that it's raw. Thanks for the tip! I really don't like liver, and I thought beef was bad? Chicken I eat pretty regularly maybe 4-5 times a week.
I meant: Chicken or beef live. I dislike it, but my bloodwork proves it's worthy of the work. I prefer chicken liver, well seasoned with lots of fried onions.Buckwheat honey raw - great for mouth sores, skin injuries, anything: it's antibacterial delicious.
I live on Ottawa, Canada.
I have a childhood friend in San Diego California.
Going to prepare Passover dinner

Gingins are good for stomach disturbances... you can get chewy or hard ones. I also make my own slices of ginger cooked in honey, semi-dried and kept in fridge.. very good.
just on a rack overnight or in a low oven for an hour.. just so the excess honey drips off. Put used gingery honey into a pot and keep in the fridge.. Slice organic ginger thinly ( I peeled, but you dont have to). The low boil was for quite a long time.. 40 mins? It keeps well wrapped in clingfilm in fridge, I make cling film parcels and put in freezer as well. It is hot, but good - and cheaper/less sugar than Gingins.. though I do both, as the Gingins are individually wrapped.
I get traditional acupuncture for general wellbeing every 2 weeks. I have used it for back pain too.. it worked well. I am not afraid of needles. Sometimes it hurts more than others, but only for a second.. worth it in my opinion
i've been doing acupuncture prior to the initial dx in Oct 2011. it moves the stagnant chi in this mind-body. the only time a needle bothers the mind-body is when the needle is being placed in the meridian for the organ, where the chi is stagnant.
