Hair loss - maybe from Piqray?

Hi Friends, I haven't been active for awhile - but I've been wondering if anyone else has experienced hair loss from taking Piqray. My hair was already thinning a bit but after 8 months in with Piqray, it started falling out in clumps. 8 months after that, my hair is still very thin and breaking off. I also starting using Monat products at the same time I had the mass exodus of hair and there have been complaints with hair loss from others using it. At any rate, if anyone has any experience with either of these and especially if anyone has had success with products that help hair regrowth, I would appreciate it. Praying you all feel well today and are blessed!

Hello, I’m on different meds ( Ibrance, Letrozole, Zoladex & Zometa) but I’ve also had a lot of hair thinning and texture damage. I’ve only been on meds for 8 months now. In the first months every time I washed, brushed or rearranged my hair the strands that fell out could be scrunched into a tennis ball sized mass. The hair loss gradually reduced to a golf ball size, but the texture remained fried and there was no obvious regrowth at the roots.Last month I did a “bonding restoring treatment” at my “Toni&Guy”hair dressers and this month has shown a one and a half cm of new growth and very much better strength and texture. I would really recommend this type of treatment.

I’m not sure if they have this chain of hair salons in your area but it’s something similar to Olaplex which I think is widely available. My hair loss now is almost nothing, I had another treatment this month and I’ll keep doing that every month when I get my roots done ….now that they’re growing again.

I generally avoid blow drying, and wash my hair only twice a week.

Good luck, I hope you find something that works for you, I know it can be demoralising.

Hi Zoe - thank you for that great information. I'll look into the treatment with Tony&Guy. Would love to have some thickness back.

It’s not too expensive at around 30 € for my shoulder length hair. It’s done at the same time as the root colouring which also saves time. I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for years but this is something new that she recommended and it’s really helped. Judging from your photo we have very similar hair colouring and length. My hair is very fine, naturally straight but prone to extreme fizz in heat and humidity….and that was before diagnoses!!!Hope it works for you too.

Best wishes and best of health with your continuing treatments.

I am not sure what Piqray is but I am sure you have tried a smaller dose. Otherwise I have nothing to offer as I am not on that .

I have also experienced hair loss on Piqray similar to the loss I had on Kisqali.

Right now my most serious concern is diarrhea. I have experienced it for about 2 months now. If I ever get that under control then I will worry about hair loss.

BTW my last PET/CT scan was clear with no evidence of active disease so I would really like to continue taking it.

Wishing you the best,

Audrey

Hi Audrey, Sorry to hear that Piqray is irritating your stomach. I remember having to take a lot of Immodium at first. I feel like I'm always one way or the other - but I will say that things have leveled out and I don't deal with diarrhea very often at all. Hang in there!!

So happy to hear your scans were clear. That is awesome!!!

Wishing you the best as well!

Hi. I had extreme itching in my scalp. My dermatologist said to use T-Gel and any type of conditioner. He gave me a prescription spray when my hair was dry. I haven’t used it as the itch is gone. My scalp is very dry so l only wash my hair about once a week. I am on Piqray and my side effects are chronic diarrhea and a diabetic condition.

I changed my dosing from 2:00 to 7pm. Better on the diabetic side a bit.

If you get diabetes from Piqray, Dr Foley from Sloan Kettering would like to know. I am in upstate NY and he is 300 miles away and this is his specialty as an endocrinologist. We do telemedicine calls. Only 20 percent get a diabetic side effect.

Piqray has kept me alive.

Pray for the care givers and the medical teams. Blessings. Reenie

Hi Reenie,

The diarrhea when I first started Piqray was pretty bad but things have definitely calmed down to a manageable situation. And yes, all of the chemo meds made my blood sugar increase, but it has been out of control with Piqray. I am now type 2 diabetic. I take Metforman, Farxiga, and Trulicity injections to help manage it. With the way chemo meds change my tastebuds, carbs (and especially sugary ones) are the only things that taste good to me. I drink Zevia sodas sweetened with stevia to help keep the sugar down, but it's hard to do the right diet when nothing tastes good.

Blessings!
