Hello all,

Is anyone apprehensive about getting the vaccine with liver Mets? I wonder if it will affect our quality of life. I see post about the side effect which seems minimal but any concerns about the effect long term

I have liver mets and received the Phizer vaccine in April. I have had no impact to my health or bloodwork since that could be attributed to that vaccine.

I have had two doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The first time I had 24 hours of flu like reaction. I, too, have mets in the liver.

When you have the vaccine you're having a tiny amount in a couple of seconds; unlike chemo where you have high doses over eg an hour

As for long term effects, I was vaccinated in my childhood and for the last 8 years I've had a flu vaccine. The last 5 years I've also had pneumonia vaccine. I've not, to my knowledge, had any long term effects.

I will be having any 'top ups' that become available. Why? Because it will reduce the risk of serious illness if I get the virus. I couldn't cope with that on top of the anti cancer treatment and a low immune system.

But it's an individual's choice.

I got the Phizer vaccine in April with very little side effects. I also have liver mets. I think you’re safer to get vaccine then not but It’s definitely a personal choice .

Hi Gibby,

Thanks for your feedback. I’m just an extremely cautious individual, I always think long term. (not always good) however my concerns are that we (cancer patients) are the trial for the vaccine and no ones knows how it will affect us in the long run. I’m anxious to get it and anxious not to. Just torn.

Well if it helps I don’t think they know the long-term effects for anyone cancer or not….. I think it’s just a chance we all have to take can you survive Covid if you get it now without the vaccine?? I think that has to be the real question. Either way I wish you well ❤️

I also have liver mets. I had the Moderna vaccine and had minimal side effects. Sore arm with the first shot and a very sore arm and tiredness from the second shot. I had the shots in Feb and March. My labs have been normal.

Anderl puts it so well! I had a large mets in my liver. Because of lymphadema in both upper arms, I had the Moderna vaccine in my thigh. The second dose produced a large sore welt on my leg and I was joyful.. I figured that it meant that my immune system was actually working. (?).

I have liver mets and received the Astra Zeneca vaccine and have had both jags. I had no impact to my health or bloodwork since that could be attributed to that vaccine. I just felt a bit tired the pm after the first one
