Verzenio and diarrhea

Hello, I have been on Verzenio for 4 weeks (started 5/1/2021) I haven't had diarrhea everyday but after the first week being on it's been an ongoing battle. I am trying to alter my diet to try not to aggravate the issue. I also have a very sore rectum which feels like I have hemorrhoid's but I don't think that is what it is. I started a probiotic today to see if that calms everything down. I have had IBS so I know certain foods aggravate my stomach. It is so frustrating feeling like you can't leave the house because of diarrhea and the painful rectum. I will let you know if the probiotic makes a difference, Has anyone else had these issues and how did you find relief?

Hi, Jerry!Your oncologist should have recommendations for products you can start taking in advance of your Verzenio (ie Immodium) to counteract the diarrhea. God bless you. I hope your side effects are resolved soon!

I was having some diarrhea(and a sore rectum...my sympathy!) wth Erubilin and found that one chewable Pepto Bismol was extremely helpful. Imodium seemed to be to much. I didn’t want to push myself in the other direction of constipation either. Excuse the typos. I’m at the end of my wifi network and it is not letting me go back in and correct. The nurses that administer your drugs should have some helpful ideas as well as your oncologist. Good luck!

I started Verzenio about 2 months ahead of you, at the beginning of March. Three, 24 tablet, packages of anti-diarrhea arrived with it from the specialty pharmacy.

I really only noticed the diarrhea for the first 3-4 weeks, and then, after that, only when I had more fruits and vegetables than usual.

I never had the sore “bum,” though. I know it will get better!

Hopefully it calms down. I’m on month 5 and it’s infrequent but still happens. Trigger foods. Use baby wipes fir your bum. They help with the soreness. Best of luck!

Definitely look into anti diarrhea medication I had sporadic incidents when on it certain foods trigger it making sure you take dose full 12 hours apart don’t overeat etc.. Eat binding foods rice banana etc.. ask your onc for more advise

I hope they sent along the anti-diarrhea med with your first doses. USE IT. Mine went away after about 5-6 weeks, almost as if I never had it! Now, I have only had one or two incidents. I have been on Verzenio since mid-Summer two years ago.
