Not cancer related but I thought i’d Share my news!

After a couple of years of consideration we made the snap decision yesterday to welcome a new member to the family.

My sister-in-law is a dog breeder and a puppy homed last week has come back to her as he was intent on tripping the new owner up, so my SiL immediately thought that we would be the perfect home for the puppy with ambitions to be a killer!

He’s 8 weeks old and his name is under debate, husband wants to call him Fred and daughter wants Henry. I prefer Henry but am keeping out of it 😊

I know it’s not mbc related but I thought you might enjoy seeing his picture.

Update: thank you for all the lovely comments and suggestions for names. They gave us a lot to 'discuss' and he finally has a name and amazingly we are still married! - he's now Henry Hobson, Henry for short, after my husband's favourite beer! He is beer coloured! So pleased you enjoyed seeing the picture! Jxx

Oh I’m so jealous....he’s gorgeous !

What about calling him Cadbury as he’s chocolate coloured...we had a pony years ago called that ...similar colour

Love that idea, i’ll suggest it and my my mother’s family worked for Cadbury’s in Bourneville. I grew up thinking my mother was Fredo frog as she used to have to dress up in a frog costume to promote Cadbury’s chocolate.

Hi Julie,

Your new puppy is absolutely adorable! How about calling him Harry? Let us know what you decide to call him.

Well, my old girl, Tess, is 15 and the 'baby' until now, Meg is 9. I thought they would be my last dogs but who can resist a puppy!

Doesnt matter at all that its not MBC related. We're all people with lives outside of cancer and its lovely to see nice positive stuff.

How adoreable is he. Such a gorgeous little face. He'll have you all wrapped round his little paw lol. X

Adorable! He looks like a “Coco”.

I have two dogs almost 4 years old each. Max is a shihtzu/bichon mix and Rex a havanese. Dogs are special and they know what we are going through. Enjoy the new addition!

He’s gorgeous! We had a chocolate lab years ago and he was the best dog ever. We have been debating getting a puppy, you may have refueled my longing for a new dog.

My sister just got a new puppy and named him Freddie.

Enjoy all the puppy lovin’ 💕

Let me tell you, pets are an amazing healing therapy! I do rescues - raised 3 kitten litters this summer (5 kittens had to be bottle fed) and adopted all but one kitten out to wonderful homes - kept one whose new adopter mom never showed up and adopted a tiny rescue from my sister (who works for a Vet and is a rescue volunteer). Now we have 2 more rescued kittens - not to mention 3 small dogs and 3 more Chihuahua rescues! We call them our "herd". They make me laugh, give love (my older kittens lay on my chest every day and purr at nap time (Vet says they are healing me - purring is their way to heal!), keep me getting up and staying active!

Oh you have a full houseful of love! When I was diagnosed with stage 4 (and became more housebound) we had 2 senior yorkies, Teddy and Daisy...the perfect dogs for a busy professional couple, low maintenance and portable, lol. Then.....we added 2 female shelties Scarlett and Belle, littermates! Oh the joy! Then....we added a tiny tiny male sheltie, Alfie (full grown he weighs 11 pounds and is as spry as an elf, hence his name) . Oh my heart was fill. Then..... we added Arwen, a tiny sable and white sheltie girl. My cup runneth over. We live in the country with a huge fenced yard. My husband still works full time and I spend most of my days alone. The yorkies were getting up there in the years and spend much time sleeping. The shelties are very active and keep me busy, they are my shadows and constant companions. They are very therapeutic for me, I cannot imagine my life without them now.

My dogs adapted their behaviour to suit how well I was feeling when I was receiving treatment for primary bc. They got me through those horrible days.

He is adorable!!! We did the same thing about 2 months ago when we also adopted a chocolate lab that was 12 weeks old. Her name is Esso for the famous bar in Clemson, SC. We are huge tiger fans and grads of Clemson - thus the reference. Our yellow lab is Knickerbocker, aka Nikki, named after the Alumni Store. We have it bad. Congratulations!!! Those puppies will keep us on our toes for certain.

He is adorable my son has a chocolate lab that we look after frequently . Labs are a great breed of dog . Her name is Daisy she is 6 years old, hopes to get another puppy in the spring . We think Daisy will be ok with a pup as is very easy going .

6 is a perfect age to introduce a second dog. Meg is 9 and I was a bit concerned but she is delighted with her new partner in crime :-)

If you know a breeder you like, look to see if they have any dogs they'd like to retire. Usually, they'll be around 6 years old. And trained -- that's a big bonus.

He's adorable! My husband had a lab when we got married, and when I was diagnosed. Argo, the dog, knew just when I needed to cuddle. Now we have a tiny dog, rescued from a snow pile on Christmas eve. Dogs just seem to appear when we need one! Cats, too. Thanks for sharing this photo--and the number of likes and replies shows you spread alot of joy with this photo!

My dogs have been with me throughout. My first dog Bethan had to be put to sleep 6 months before my primary diagnosis, but she was a very happy 15 year old. She was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer when she was 11 and we were told that she would have between 2 weeks and definitely no more than 6 months. We got Meg to keep our other dog company when we lost Bethan. Bethan took one look at the puppy absolutely hated her and promptly lived for another 4 years. Bethan taught me so much about living with cancer and of course she never knew that she had it.
