I LOVE my heating pad at night, I never thought to ask if it was ok. I have bone Mets in every vertebrae, hip, pelvis and femur, plus 3 compression fractures. Mine shuts off automatically after 30 minutes and gives me great relief at the end of the day. I also take it with me whenever I travel.

I use a moist heating pad. Works wonders! I have Metz. To spine, sternum, hips, pelvis, and bones. Never leave home without it!

Use mine whenever I am resting. Day and night. I also travel with it. Spine doctor recommended it. Makes me feel better.

I also have used a heating pad but interesting enough, I have found that cold packs help more sometimes. Perhaps the numbing affect of them. Both are helpful.

I use mine all the time and I also travel with it. I have rods in both femurs from bone Mets and have Mets in various spots in my spine

When I was first diagnosed with stage 4 bone mets I purchased a heating pad called the biomat - it's a infrared pad with quarts crystals - I have it on my chair and use it everyday- well worth the investment!!!

Hock15,

I have a small heating pad that I use on my lower back when watching tv. The heat is very soothing. I never asked my doctor about it either but I think he’d say it was okay. I have a larger heating pad that I use in bed when I think I need it. It’s made to lie on. I too have bone mets.

Wishing you well! Kats2

Kats2.....where did you get the heating pad you lie on in bed? I didn't know they made something like that.

I got it on QVC about a year ago. Go on their website QVC.com and search for heating pads, or just call the QVC ph # and they’ll find it for you and you can order it.

The customer service # is 1-800-367-9444. It’s free to order from them. You pay a small s+h charge. But if you’re a first-time customer, you get $5 off your first order. I order all kinds of things from them.

The heating pad is called Slumberheat Pad and it’s made by Sunbeam. Machine washable. It’s nice and big with adjustable settings.

I also bought a neck heating pad from them which I use every night in bed. That’s a Sunbeam too.

Hope this has helped. Kats2

A nice hot tube makes me feel better when pain comes on. And heated blanket rocks my boat at times in cold weather too.

I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer already stage 4 (it has spread all over my skeleton) and you don't get breast Cancer from 1 month to the other, let alone already metastatic!Consequently the pain all over my skeleton (ribs, back, arms, legs) that I had been having for nearly a year and the bastards GPS had never asked for further investigation was the metastasis.Only when I referred myself to the hospital emergency and I was admitted straight away and they did further investigation in the hospital and found about my cancer.

To make a long story short : I always used heat pads, tens machines and those kind of natural stuff. At the end of last November when I was admitted to hospital, the pain was so excruciating I had morphine and strong pain killers.Although as soon as the pain got better I stopped using any pain killer as much as possible.I hardly take painkillers I prefer the heat pads and the wireless ten machine .Plus pain killers make you constipated and if your faeces stay too long in your bowels the hormones are reabsorbed and as my cancer is oestrogen and progesterone positive I'm sure I don't want my hormones reabsorbed. God bless and help us all, we will fight this bastard ( cancer) until the end and we never ever, will give up!xx
