I'm a 68 year old male, rode my bicycle 4900 miles last year and 130 in cold January of this year without any problems. At times I ride pretty fast (20+MPH), I give my heart a good workout.
On the night of February 23rd while at home sitting around I got a pain in my left arm, was nauseous, and had an elevated BP and pulse - this is the first time this has ever happened. The pain was in the 5 or 6 range and it lasted about 6 to 8 hours. My normal BP and pulse is around 100/50 and 45, on Feb 24th it was 120/65 to 180/90 and about 55.
Went to the ER, bloodwork and EKG indicated no heart attack. They sent me home the next day (the 25th), I wasn't feeling great but I was alright. On the 26th I rode my bike 17 miles and walked 2 to see how I'd do and I didn't have any problems. Today (Feb 27th) I'm feeling lousy, my BP and pulse are up a little bit from this morning and I'm a little nauseous.
What happened to me? I'm assuming it's my heart, it isn't a pulled muscle or some kind of strain and I can't conceive the problem being any other organ. Any guesses?
