I have just been put on pramipexole. Day four not helping so far apart from knocking me out at night and making me feel tired in mornings. Plus very dry mouth. I really need some relief from this now. I also now suffer anxiety attacks too. :-(

Hello.

I was very interested to hear that you suffer from RLS during the day and the evening and that going to bed helps. That sounds like me as well. I have been taking pramipexole for a while. It did help at first

I am supposed to take it 2 hours before bedtime- but that has proved pretty useless. Started taking it earlier and earlier (now about 3.00pm) but RLS starts up before that.Going to bed helps to a certain extent but RLS now starts in the night. Presumably meds wearing off by then.

I can't say that I have had any side effects, but then I take other meds for OA as well - rattle - rattle!. I am sorry to hear about anxiety attacks that is not nice. I do hope you can get some relief soon.

I get it in the day as well as at night. I don't take dopamine meds..I control it with co codamol from my gp. It does help me sleep at night and seems to stop it in the day without making me sleepy. I am a little worried about long term use but usually only take 2x30/500 per day so am hoping it won't be a problem....if I get it mildly in the day I just get active.....you should see my garden!!! I only resort to pills if it sets in hard in the daytime.

JEALOUS!! I would love to stop RLS with gardening but the snow and cold are prohibiting that. Great to have something to derail the demon of RLS. Knitting and crocheting help keep my brain active and legs not. One day I will get my plants OUTSIDE!! Can't wait. Enjoy yours :-)

thedragon HELLO there!!! (smiley faces from me!)

When you think about it, what's worse... Running on little to no sleep

or pill addiction..

The consequences of no sleep are so severe for me. I'm living it

right now, today... I'm up for work and had only minutes of sleep.

I have 8-10 hours ahead of me. I'm so tired that my head is going

to slam down on the desk as I write this if I don't have caffeine

to make it through my day. My body is tingling numb from lack of

sleep. It's like a body buzz... it's humming. ^O^

Usually I seem to cope pretty well on little sleep. But no sleep .....I know what you mean about the body buzz!!!! The last fewnights have been dreadful. I'm not really worried about painkiller addiction ..and if I am on anti depressants for the rest of my life , I really don't care. They saved my my life. I finally feel like the person I always was meant to be. I'm just worried about the physical effects of long term co codamol. Happy wishes to you yikes!!!!

Good morning

I had the same situation in the very early days of my RLS, going to bed solved the problem. However that didn't last. I hope it does for you, as the alternative is awful!!

Yes, in my very EARLY days of RLS, it actually DID help to go to bed. But, not now. RLS is progressive, and the only thing that works for me is the opiate pain meds. I am one who has tried every med when they first came out for RLS. If it were not for pain meds, I would probably not be able to EVER sleep or sit down. I know it is harder in the UK to get these meds prescribed, but they are the only thing that saved my life, literally. RLS is 24/7 as it progresses for most of us, sadly.

Nightdancer, I was approached with a pill that uses lavender oil to

calm the busy brain and tame the restlessness.

Have you heard of that? I was given 60 days worth of pills

that are registered and on the shelves in drug stores..

It's a pill, not a scent or a application type product. The manufacturer

told me that if it doesn't work, they will give me 100 dollars.

I was already given the pills free of charge.. I didn't seek them,

they found me based on a survey that I took...

I wanted your take before I bring it along to my doctor appointment

to be approved to add them to my treatment plan.

I'm going to hear it from people who know that medicines like

Paxil can make RLS worse...

Anxiety attacks destroyed my life. I was a prisoner in my own

body. I thought I was dying every day of my life 4 times a day.

Nurse Direct was on speed dial. (phone) I couldn't even leave

the house, hold down a job or function most days.

I would rather be dead than give up Paxil.. don't give

up. Talk to your doctor about this. I take Paxil with

pramipexole and had no adverse effects.

It's a pill that actually made it VERY easy to lose weight for me.

(that was the only big bonus!)

Having RLS and Panic attacks put me way over the edge.

I was so close to ending my life over it all.

I wish that I didn't wait so long to get on the medicines.
