Now my post did not show up. I did say that there are no physical support groups listed in the US RLS Foundation quarterly newsletter. This web site is 96% UKer's. Most groups are based out of the US. Ther.e is one of my groups who has people from 30 different countries and is a good choice for people who cannot find local physical support. Am going to go google that myself and see if anything new has shown up in Scotland. I have nmembers form Scotland in my big yahoo group. (1257 members)

I googled "sleep disorders Edinburgh". You have lot so sleep centers there, so there stands to reason that there ae support groups that go along with them. ;) For info sleepscotland.org is a sleep center , and you can look up lots more. I am sure this organization/charity can tell you who to call or whether ther eare support groups. I just feel that there must be at least one somewhere over there, because the list of sleep centers are quite prevalent in Edinburgh. so, that is my thought, anyway.

Donna(USA) There are about 7 US people here, and the rest are from the UK. :) RLS is universal, and we can get any info for you, like what drugs are approved in your country, etc. Just don'tt call any of the ones that state they can "cure" your RLS. They are not to be trusted in any country, becaus ether is no cure. again, for certain people (not you), I am not being negative, but truthful! ;) BIG difference.

"because there is no cure" (mispelling) :)

I take it your looking for a support group meetings that meet up every week or so face to face im sure your Local Social Servies would know of any :) i understand that there's more and more groups popping up all over the UK ,,

Good Luck hope you find one near you :)

Hi kazzi did you manage to find anything in Scotland for RLS sufferers. This is the first time I've seen anything about people from Scotland everything I have seen so far has been from England and feel there is nothing here in Scotland at all for us here. I too have thought about setting something up here and am in contact with people from the willis ekbom foundation in America and they have sent me an application form to fill in to apply to become a support group leader. It would be good to hear your thoughts on this.

Its a good idea, the problem is i dont have the time to committ to setting something up, im currently doing a very difficult job with unpredictable hours, and a uni course, so working after work to get assignments done, and im teaching a student also, im a single mum and also have a wee grandson whom i look after sometimes, so i really just wanted something i could 'dip' in and out if it was already around...i wish you luck if you decided to go ahead and try and set this up , let me know if anything comes of this and apologies again that i cant get that involved just now :)

I can't believe that finally I have found people from Scotland who suffer from RLS is it just me or do you think that there is no help groups or anything like that here for us and feel totally isolated and alone

Hi,

I would come to a support group in Edinburgh but I live an hour away so I wouldn't be able to come regularly.

Altho i am in England, there are no support groups where i live. I just rely on this group and i do belong to other support groups too. I have found all the help, advise and support that i need when i need it from online groups. I know some people might prefer to actually "go" to a group. I myself couldnt commit to a group even if there was one in my area, sleepless nights or side effects from the meds, would stop me from doing that. :)
