I never tried pramipexole but am using the Neupro patch. 2mg wasn't enough for me. Can you increase the Neupro? I use 3mg and it's great for me. Good luck. Those dark days are rough.....

thanks will mention it to my gp good to know theres help out there

Agree with CathyS, Neupro 3mg works 24hrs, but I supplement it with 900mg Gabapentin about 2hrs before going to bed.

thanks for advice can you buy gabapentin over the counter

No, it needs to be cleared with your GP. When first diagnosed some years ago, and prescribed Ropinirole tabs which proved ineffective, that's when my Doc suggested Gabapentin as a back-up, and there was a little improvement. I was switched from Ropinirole to the Neupro 3mg patches following my annual Neurosurgeon examination, and carried on with the Gabapentin. That was over a year ago and the improvement has been amazing, and I hope this can be the case for you as well. As others on this forum have noted, there is no one cure for this curse that suits everyone, so I hope that your GP/Neurosurgeon have the knowledge/patience to work at what's best for you - they and you have nothing to lose if the current regime is driving you crazy. Good luck!

I do understand the sleep deprivation. It's truly terrible. I've written a blog on it. I know what you mean by saying you are alone with it too. It's a very isolating illness and a cruel one if there is such a term as the affects must affect your family too. Hope it improves.

TheWingco reminds me to mention that I do supplement the patch occasionally with Sinemet 25/100, but that's only when I fail to put the patch on in time. It takes up to 6 hours (for me) for the patch to become fully effective, so if I patch late I need that fast acting Sinemet to tide me over. It's insane that nobody can find a standard treatment to help everybody. Also may be causing insanity too when so many suffer sleepless nights/weeks! My neurologist says that there isn't a great deal of research being done because nobody actually dies from RLS. I mentioned that there were nights when that seemed like a better alternative! We need a celebrity - and maybe a walk-a-thon! Since we're not sleeping, walking could be a productive outlet :-) Best wishes for relief to all ~
