Hi mm66

Are you afraid of addiction? My experience for over 45 years is that all the new medicine you get work fine to start with then they do not have any lasting effect. I do not remember all the names, but many are the same as PD get.

Last night Iwent to bed arond midnight and was wide awake before 03:00.

Before I went to sleep my left leg had started irriating me, when I woke up the leg had pain in the bone and have had since. It is now 06:52 GMT.

I try walking back and forth with or without my knitting. Have water and fruit tea to drink, now is coffee time. Yes I have an iPad to play with. Thing is when you can nor be still there is not much good in the things apart from the audiobooks. 44Scotland Street is my favourite.

Please if you have any good advice share with me

enjoy your coffee

A word of advice is learn to know your RLS . Try to find out what does it good and what does not do any good. You'll have to figure it out for yourself, do not let anyone tell you what is best for you, find it out.

It can be some food, training or what do I know. I talk to my legs, tell them to raise the knees up high. It has helped me to like my RLS and make fun of it sometimes.

Sorry dear my legs are killing me now so it is walkabout now.

All the best

NO, not worried at all. Been taking them, opiates for 14 yrs, and have had no issues. There is a difference between addiction and physical dependence. Will get the link to the best explanation I have and post it. If these meds are used correctly, there is no issue, unless there are other issues we do not know about. Opiates are the ONLY thing that help me, so quality of life would be considered more important to me than bringing on unncessary worrying. If you are not searching for the next pill, or that is all you can think about, etc etc, then, maybe you have an addiction problem. I have never upped my dose in 10 yrs, take peeeeee tests for my doctor to show I comply (I am in the USA), and signed a narcotics contract. So, all the rules are followed and my doctor's team, all 6 of them ) are "all in" on this treatment.

opiods- Addiction vs Dependence

healthcentral.com/chronic-p... This explains in really clear language the difference, and it is the way I explain it, but better. LOL

I am taking oxycontin and tramadol. Oxycontin and the tramadol are long acting and without them my RLS pain would be absolutely intolerable. I am not worried as I was told if you take these meds and are in pain then the body reacts differently a long time ago. It's also about quality of life. With my doctor I reduced oxycontin because the higher dose made me sick. I think you do have to try and work out the best combination of medication and do things that work for you with medical supervision. I can't drink caffeine for example or do too little or too much excercise. Everyone is different. Clonazepam does lose it's affectiveness quite quickly and it does not give me sleep. Dose has never been raised and wouldn't want it to be as I am not an expert but a fellow sufferer but this drug does cause withdrawal symptoms and I think is supposed to be done with your doctor at 0.5mg per six months.

I suffer insomnia and was offered amitryptyline. After hearing from a lot of helpful people on here, and meeting someone in the chemist who said that medication ( he did not have RLS but it gave it to him temporarily) said it was like having to ride a bike with amitrptyline and for goodness sake don't take it. I had mentioned it to my pharmacist and the customer over heard. I was grateful he took the time to talk to me. There will never be a perfect solution to RLS. I hope that you get some sleep soon.
