Has anyone had good results with magnesium supplements? I'm sure it helps along with exercise. I'd be interested to hear what you think?
I have tried magnesium and i found i couldnt take it. As for exercise, it seems to be an individual thing, some find it helps some find it doesnt make any different and some find it makes there RLS worse....
Magnesium has not done anything for me and I take plenty of exercise with the dog but anything is worth trying for about 4 weeks to see if it helps you.
I tried magnesium supplements & they didn`t help me either. I`m wondering if I`ll ever get relief from this ting.
Exercise might be the trigger for me right now..I'm experimenting with
early morning walks vs. early evening walks.
Magnesium was a fail for me..so far..
Well as usual it's a case of what works for one doesn't work for another. I have suffered since my teens and am now in my sixties. For the past 5 or 6 years my condition has been continual rather than the occasional flare-up that I used to endure. For a few years I have been trying various drugs with varying results, but since I started on Magnesium with Vitamin B along with Clonazapam and a moderate amount of exercise, I have had my best spell in years. I also wear shorts pretty much most of the time, regardless of the temperature, and also I rarely wear shoes or socks. At night I have a fan directed at my lower legs and feet, which I probably use about 3 times a week in winter but usually every night in summer.
The more you study our illness, the more you will come to realize that there are so many variables, that what works for one person isn't the answer for all, and also what works for you might not work forever.
I also have a bedroom fan directed at my lower legs and feet and I find this helps a lot.
i take iron suplements with my ropinorole, my rsl is very strange it seems to come on the same time every day, even more baffling as i nod off it kicks in , as if my brain does not want me to sleep, i have tried most things, stop smoking, drink decaf, exercise , warm baths, even a foot massager, but it's really a case of good days bad days, i get a really bad attack about once a week, this is a nightmare, i get no peace all night. As ffor that word cure , very little can be cured never to return, we have to live with it, like somebody said trial and error, what works for one might not work for another. i wish you all well and hope you get peace even if it is only for tonight.
I think people with RLS have tried magnesium supplements for cramps (which, hardly surprisingly, many suffer from) not the RLS itself. That is why so many have replied negatively to your question. It would be interesting to hear from those who suffer from cramps and take magnesium supplements as to whether it helps. I've got some magnesium tablets and get cramps; I'll try taking them for a few days and let you know the outcome. Unfortunately, I understand from past writers on this site, magnesium tends to act as a laxative! Tpebop, Kent, Britain.
so if you do manage to get RLS relief, there's quite a chance that
you may have to make a quick run for the toilet in the middle
of the night. Gosh, treatment can be cruel..<3
Yes, magnesium is supposed to help with cramps, but i have read where some who take magnesium it has helped with their RLS...
And the reason i used it was to see if it helped my RLS, the reason i stopped it was, yes, it was a toooo good a laxative for me, even a small amount of magnesium was enough for me to run to the bathroom....
