This is RLS Awareness month, so the wrong thing to do is to ignore her when she threw a teaching tool like that in our laps. She is ignorant. I am dealing with the newspaper and their sense fo fairness, etc. It is chance to get the word out, even if we have to put up with someone like her. I am like a pit bull with a bone on Christmas morning when something like this pops up. :o) We know it is "wind up", bit she is a means to a bigger prize, such as getting a "pro RLS article" in the paper.
just read it myself what a farce ...... can't make my mind up if she's for real or as Eileen says a wind up if it isn't then the woman is clearly sick and knows nothing ,
I'm not a nasty person by nature but hope she has RLS for a week just to have a taste of what we go through then see what she says ,
she's not a Dr or a consultant and so has no medical background to say anything what's she's put and so think she just one them folk that likes up-setting others and gets a kick out of the feed back she'll be getting ,

She is not a stupid person, that is for sure. She is the retired editor in chief of the entire New Jersey Media Group I found out today, so that is why she can publish any garbage she wnats to, because no oone is going to fire her, because she is free lance, also.
Please post on her page, lets show her we are here and we have a voice!? She could loose her job if its seen she has poorly reported?!

he is free lance writer, so the paper does not employ her. :o( too bad. But this is the worst thing I have seen, it is not satire nor is it funny. I agree with Bob. I have been dealing with people like this for 15 yrs, and know when they are trying to just tell a joke and are totally obnoxious. This si what awareness is. This is Awareness month, ane 9/23 is RLS Swareness day, so this was the perfect way to start out the month. I also said that we need to have a fair rebuttal written, so that both sides are presented, since that is the way we do it with freedom of speech. They stopped deleting comments after I brought up freedom of speech.

They will keep using her. did you see my post that she is the retired Editor in Chief of the entire New Jersey news Media group, which owns over a hundred newspapers? No one is going to fire her, ever.
Bobs right, these kind of people need to know that we suffer, and more so because of bigots like her, we have a voice same as her, use it please , it doesnt take long to leave a comment
I read the article this morning, and i left a long comment....The person is out of order...TOOO many times i have seen this type of rubbish written about RLS. They will not laugh at me without them getting a comment back to them.
We need to make a stand. Only we can do that, by letting these people know we wont let such rubbish written go by without a response.
My comments and her article have come thro to my Facebook page, which i didnt realise. But now its gone world wide. I left a comment saying i am sure her editor will NOT be pleased she has made FB headlines for all the wrong reasons...i hope she gets fired...

For whatever reason this nonsense (polite word .... grrhhh 
) was printed, it is a total insult to us and the charity and she should certainly be brought down.

She will cone down. She does not directly work for the paper, so they will not feel any employee protectiveness with this. It was hard to keep up with all the posts they were deleting, but I saved the page each tme went to it all day today, and I have most of the comments they took off and brought back again. I started deleting my posts and reposting them just to confuse them. ;o) Fear not.
Well I left my twopence worth on the site - but we really should just ignore her - shes just so ignorant she shouldn't be allowed to leave her opinion out there in public. Good news is that medical research and the guys who count (doctors and researchers) are out there working on the problem - they are working on the role melatonin plays in RLS, and on the involvement of the spinal dopaminergic system, so good for the doctors and she can go drown herself any time she pleases. Chin up people, its real and the people that count know it.

Thank you to those who have brought this shocking so-called article to our attention. The columnist in question (note that she is not a journalist and make your own judgements on that) has written pure drivel, simple as that. I too have responded and would encourage all of the forum users to do so, in order that her ill-informed opinion is openly challenged and shown for the rubbish that it is.

Thanks Daragh for giving your comment on this rubbish article... She hasnt been the only columnist in the past that has made such stupid and ill informed remarks in a newspaper on RLS. When we find them or they are brought to our attention, then we go and leave our comments as strongly as we can.
Now we have this forum, so now many more can join in the battle so to speak, to let this type of person know how their remarks can be offensive and insulting to people who have RLS.

Top Left Corner and then maybe 2 lines down you will FAVOURITES, click on it and choose SAVE, follow instructions.

On the subject of computer il/literacy, not being on Facebook or Twitter, how can I leave a comment on that damn columnist's page? I just couldn't work it out!
At the bottom of her 'article' below the adds where the comments start, on the right you will see ADD COMMENT, on the left it says 19 comments.

On the line above the 1st comment, you will find ' XX Comments' on the left and on the far right 'Add Comment' Now i assume you got that far?
When you clicked on that another box is displayed and on the bottom LEFT is a TICK box saying Post To Facebook. UN tick that box

Well, I just couldn't read this article and not leave a comment....She deserves all the abusive or malicious comments aimed at her. Let's face it, no one is going to be nice to an ignorant person like that, are they? Nope, I wasn't either, but she probably won't care anyway. Until she has something wrong with her one day that there's no cure for, and then someone says to her that it's all in her stupid head. Ooops. I said stupid. Sorry. Not.

someone needs to write a positive follow up to this article asap ! Now it has caught so many peoples attention, let's use this to milk it for what it's worth and tell the world about this awful, uncomfortable, life-long condition that we have to live with.

That ia one of the VERY FEW apologies that have occured, and I want to personally thank everyone
that helped with the email campaign and the letters to the editor. Before some commensts were deleted we had at least 400 up there. :o) My yahoo groups got in on it, and we buried them with comments and thankd to Daraugh who sent in a great comment from RLS-UK. They were the ONLY RLS Foundation that commented on that article. Something positive WILL happen.
I agree, its very rare to get such an apology and we need to celebrate it!!!
