Hi, does anyone know what the next dosage is of pramipexol after 0.18 ? This dosage is not 100% controling my RLSThanksMaggie

I have just looked at the leaflet, you should have one with your pramipexole.
One tab of o,18mg then, you can take 2 tabs, 0.088mg. the highest dose for RLS is 0.54mg.

This is where the confusion comes in I started on the lowest dose of 0.0.88 ..so 2 tabs of 0.088 equals 0.18.. my dosage now is 2 0.18 ..im so confused with this dosage, the leaflets not clear. So maybe i should up the dosage to 3 x 0.18...unfortunately my doctor is as confused with this as i am !!..so how do i work out the dosage of 3 x 0.18 = ?
0.18 x 3 = 0.54 mgs. (probably too much for a single dose, but could be taken in split doses, Ask your pharmacist at the chemists - he or she won't be confused and will be pleased to help.

As per usual Elisse offers wise words. Pramipexole is a drug for Parkinson's Disease and acts on the brain (Grud we take this stuff!?). In lower doses it works for RLS sufferers but does have a safe upward limit for us. I take 3 x 0.088mg each evening; it works for me! Er...um..maths is NOT (emphasis not shouting) my strong point but get a second opinion from another doctor, a pharmacist or try that doctor at RLS help (look elsewhere on this site for the wesite address). Failing that it may be time to try another med...
Hi Maggie.I've been exploring this web site and just found your question here. (Also found map of your location!). Pramipexole comes in three strengths 0.088mg.,0.18mg & 0.7mg. The 0.18mg can be broken in half to give 0.09 mg. Two @ 0.088mg would give you 0.176mg which is very close to the 0.18mg (hope you're good at Maths).
Since one @ 0.18mg no longer works and two @ 0.18mg (0.36) knocks you out, the answer should lie somewhere in between, say with one of each or one and a half of 0.18 tablets. I questioned elsewhere whether you were taking any other medication that would affect the dose (have you seen that?) - also any alcohol would have some effect.
Package leaflets vary in the information they contain, according to manufacturer.Winthrop Pharmaceuticals have more info than most. Perhaps you could ask your friendly chemist/dispenser for the best info leaflet. Try Boots and others in the area. Usually a good dispensing chemist will have more knowledge of these things than the average GP.
Re. Vitalcalm. Website simplyvital.com Tel.0870 609 1180. They have a brochure specifically about RLS and seem to understand the problem. Vitalcalm came on the market in 2009.
Vitalcalm has been on here before, and its not a medication, its just a vitamin remedy and no one on here who has tried it says it works. Unless you have a really mild RLS, it might just help. Most remedies would probably work for mild cases.
If your RLS has got to the severe stage, then stick to the proper RLS meds.

I am so with these two on this answer! Vital calm or any vitamin formula is not going to help anything, but perhaps a mild case of RLS. I only know two people whjo told me it worked and they were selling it. Just sayin.........Proper meds are the way to go, instead of chasing down all kinds of crazy stuff. NOT saying VitalCalm is crazy by itself, but it is just not going to help with severe cases of RLS, or even some mild cases. Very few , if any alternative treatments work for very long, or even help at all.

believe me !! Unfortunately, i have to take 12 other meds per day...ridiculous, isn't it !
(blood pressure, cholestrol, thyroid, diabetis, heart, inhalents for C.O.P.D, morphine patches for arthritis etc etc etc) I HATE needing to take all these meds, but my doctor wont let me come off any of them (damn it !!) i have asked my doctor if any of these meds could have brought on my RLS, she always says the same thing.."no, your diabetes has caused it..(.neuropothy, nerves damaged by untreated diabetes) but i dont buy that----everything iv'e read points to lack of Dopamine in the brain..etc etc..i have ordered a few herbal remedies online (including the Vitacalm) but my doctor says i cant take them because they would react to the other meds i have to take, so the Pramipexol is all she will let me take for my RLS..If i can get the dosage right i will be happy to stay on them ( pramipexsol, according to my doctor, will not cause any adverse reactions with my other meds) so John,once again thanks for your help (i still cant work out what the dosage is for 3 x 0.18 pramipexsol is !! )

The dose you are asking about is about average for most adults on long term treatment, but it would usually be split into two or three doses over 24 hours. Taking just one of these 0.18mg tablets sometime during the day (before the RLS starts) might actually prevent it from starting later on. Then the balance of the dose (2 tablets) might work well taken just before you go to bed. If this dose makes you sleepy, then it would be OK because you would be wanting to get to sleep anyway. I think the morphine patches will probably be the more likely cause of your sleepiness.
When I first took it my dr told me to take 2 tabs but it didn't control it so now I take 3 and that works most of the time providing I take it at the right time.
Hi I use to take 6 tablets of the 0.088mg so what dose would that be?? Just wondered please as I don't get how it adds up :-s
88 x 6 is .528, or a little over half a mg. rxlist.com is the absolute most detailed drug info for patients, as well as medical professionals. It is the leaflet info, plus a lot more.
Helps a lot that you listed that. I know that I can just make a call
to the doctor but I feel like I'm a pain in his butt as I complain of
restless legs so much to him. He said to give it time. I'm ready to

I take 3 tabs 0.088mg. I did try 4 once quite a few years ago now but it didn't make my RLS any better so I just went back to the 3 and put up with it as best I can when it's really bad.
I was given .025 and I have to take 3 of them all at once when I go to bed.
In desperation for sleep, I took 5 and then I threw up. I didn't learn so I
tried splitting the dose 8 hrs apart..I did better. It's not enough and I've
been taking that dose for 3 months now. It's time to talk to the doctor.
I was told by him that I can adjust that dose quite a bit but I have to
get it okay'd by him.
I've been taking Pramipexole0.088mg for 3 years now, started on one tab 3hrs before bed, am now taking 3, but split them, taking 1tab in the afternoon (or when I feel RLS starting) then the other two 3hours before bed, I'm not on any other medication, this medication has been an absolute life saver, after the misery of RLS, it is not a cure, but goes a long way to containing this condition!
Probably 2 X 0.18mg.
I have just come back from my Dr. In regards to my Pramipexol dosage of 2 x 0.25 per day is not adequate for my RLS he looked up and showed me that the U S A dosage is 3 x 0.25 per day
I take Pramipexole Prolonged Release 0.52.
More effective than ordinary Pramipexole.
