HI, No I have never heard of these ever affecting RLS. Acetominophen (paracetomol) and Ibuprofen , as triggers, have literaly never come up in my groups, except that they helped some people with pain, but I can never remember talking to anyone who observed that kind of affect. Lots of over the counter meds are big "RLS no no's", though, but not these 2. Most of the PM meds are dangerous as far as triggering RLS, so we always need to check those.

What do you mean by PM drugs? X

Ok cool that makes me feel better im getting myslef so worried about what i can take and what i cant take. Getting paranoid about what i may be doing to bring it on. I have had this for 15 yrs and have only just found a doctor thats willing to look into it for me so have, alwaus just takiiin paracetomol its getting alot worse now though so thankfully my doctor is looking into some different meds people have been talking about on here. Im not looking forward to the next couple of nights cause shes cut my amitriptaline that i have at night from 50 to 25 to see if thats one of the, reasons got no more sleeping tabs cause she said she cant give a repeat prescription of zopiclone cause its addictive so tonight i will be going bed on just 25 amitriptaline...... So fingers crossed !!!!! Thanku for your advice ;)

I always take both paracetamol and Ibuprofen without any problems with my RLS. I see you take amitriptaline, that is a anti-depressant that will send RLS nuts for most people...That could be the reason you are having such a hard time. Have a look on rlshelp.org it gives lots of info on what can trigger RLS such as anti-d's and food and drink, etc i have used this website many times. Nightdancer advises alot of her group members to look at that site, its one of the best on the net to look at...

Hi perplexed, paracetamols & ibuprofen are 'Over The Counter Drugs' (OTD), usually prescribed for fevers & inflamaton pains respectively. Another 'OTD' which is safe to use in low dosage is the humble 'Aspirin' for RLS. I have used it very effectively for several years now. You can try a quarter/half a tablet which will give you a sound sleep & no RLS during the night. If you do happen to get RLS again, repeat 1/4 or 1/2 tablet aspirin. I have not taken any other drug for my RLS in last 6-7 years & feel it has diminished. Blessings to u & all.
