I was very touched when my 4th child (29year old Tom) rang me at about midnight the other night…

By the way , all my 4 children have RLS including him. I remember when he would walk his feet up and down the windscreen in the car when I drove him to and from school!! I thought he was just being a slightly badly behaved teenager, but actually it turns out that he suffers with intermittent horrendously restless feet !He said he knows I’ve just finished writing a book about the timeline of RLS treatment , and how it has developed (or not..) since it was first described in writing as ‘The Watching Evil’ by Thomas Willis back in 1885…. And how things started well enough back in the mid 20th century .

But how horrendously everything has evolved over the past ~25+ years because of greedy drug companies and incorrect action by FDA/MHRA and subsequently by universities, medical schools, neurologists and GPs.

As a result 1. Management 2.Teaching and 3.Research has all been delayed and messed up by ~25 years !

i.e. Why we are in this mess even in 2025.

He said “I know you know lots about RLS but if you join TikTok, there is masses on RLS. I’m sure lots of the posts are stupid or irrelevant, but you might find something that can help you.”

I was very moved that he thought of his ol’ mum and wanted to help me out…

I guess many/most of us would never want to look at TikTok , and Health Unlocked is by far the best forum to get instant kind caring , knowledgeable help from… but still it was interesting checking it out AND Tommy is a kind son who actually gets how horrible RLS can be…

I'm still wary about downloading Tiktok. But I accept it's a great way to get the correct message out to many people.I can't wait to read the book!

And maybe Tom can do a Tiktok post under your direction!

Good idea… I’m not sure if he just looks at TikTok or actually does posts…🥰

Good point about the safety etc

What a lovely boy but honestly Kakally I cannot believe you have 4 children & they have all inherited your RLS. What bad luck but at least you all understand each other.I would not know where to begin with TikTok but that is interesting to know.

Good luck with your book. It sounds really interesting. Do let us know how you get on with it.
