It is known to make RLS drastically worse.

Promethazine (Phenergan) is a sedating antihistamine, and like all of those makes RLS worse for most. Great if it works for you, but the general advice is to avoid sedating antihistamines. For general info on medications to avoid see this link:

Terrible for RLS patients. It is listed as a trigger medication on every RLS website. All sedating anti histamines worsen RLS.

Thanks. Prescription or over the counter?

There are safe antihistamines that are not sedating. If you want the names I can give them to you.

I take hydroxyzine every couple of days because it is such a strong anti-histamine. Hopefully your suggestion would be a better route. Thank you.

OTC Claritin (loratadine, Clarityn), zyrtec (Cetirizine), or allegra (Fexofenadine). Prescription Clarinex (Desloratadine)

Yes, I've tried it and it worked well but like most meds with me, the effectiveness drops quickly. Much appreciated!
