what should I do

I feel like I have been moaning about my RLS for quite some time now but I am at my wits end.

1. I have been weaning off Pramipex.

2. Down to 0.125mg

3. Taking 1200 mg Gabapent

I’m exhausted I can’t sleep at night My RLS symptoms still bad.

Every time I sit during the day my head is bobbing because I’m so tired.

My question:

I am nervous about cutting back further ( the Pram) but I am also reading on here that the Gabapent won’t work until I’m fully off of it

Should I bite the bullet and discontinue the 0.125 mg of Pram ( in hopes that the Gabapent will finally kick in??)

I have Tyl#3 that I have been trying to take just one of ( but last two nights ended up taking 2) - so I could try to get by with taking that until the Gabapent starts working .

I am also taking iron pills

I have requested to see a specialist.

Thx for any advice u may have

No don't stop the .125 mg. As I advised you one should drop by HALF of a .125 mg every 2 weeks. I know you are impatient to be done with it but it will only make your withdrawal symptoms worse and it will take longer for them to subside and the gabapentin start to work.

I remember you only had .25 mg pills but I also suggested you could get a jewelry scale so you could take 1/4 of the pill.

Hang in there. You will make it. You are almost there.

10 days ago, you were on 0.5mg.The advice is to go slowly. Reduce by half a 0.125 pill every 2 weeks.

And ask for a low dose opioid to settle the increased symptoms.

Don't increase above 1200mg gabapentin as it won't cover augmentation or withdrawal symptoms until about 3 weeks after your last pill.

There are a few RLS experts who advise a fast withdrawal over 3 weeks. They say it's going to be hell either way.

So, if you are fit and healthy and think you can withdraw this fast, you can stick with it.

But most experts advise a slow withdrawal.

Here's Dr Winkelman to explain it.

There are a few on here who have avoided a hellish withdrawal by starting Buprenorphine at 0.2mg as they drop 0.125mg Pramipexole. And then add aanother 0.2mg Buprenorphine. The average effective dose is between 1 and 1.5mg, but most people on this site do well on between 0.4 and 0.8mg.

Not what you're looking for?
