Clonazapam

I have been taking Clonazapam for five days, told to increase to 1.5mg at 0.5mg increments over two to three days. I am now at 1mg each night and I dont sleep, my RLS is worse. Should I continue until I reach 1.5mg, which will be in 3 days time?

They used to believe clonazepam helped RLS but no studies have found that to be so. So no I wouldn't increase it and fact I would go back to .5 mg. What was it prescribed for?

It was suggested by the neurologist for RLS and my GP agreed. Is that a problem?

No problem but it obviously didn't work.

Should I go to 1.5mg first or do you think if it was going to work it would have done by now?

Since it made your RLS worse and you can't sleep I don't see any reason to increase it especially since you have to wean off it.

I find that even a quarter of a 0.5mg tablet of clonazepam (i.e. 0.125mg) helps me sleep and i have taken it for some years now.

I'm surprised you're not sleeping on 1mg, especially given that you've just started it. Are you taking any supplements/other meds that might cause insomnia?

I was told to stop vit D and other meds have been checked. I guess theres something else going on. I will try accupuncture next.

just to share my some three-decade-experience ( I am 71)

I am surprised too. I, and at least , I am afraid, some hundreed thousands more, use/used Clonazepam to manage RLS. I have been use it (other benzo's in the past, also) for some decades. Saved my life and career. Never more than 0.6 mg.

I must say, Clonazepam would not be supposed to control RLS (by the way, is there any medication that do this, without unbereable side effects?). Clonazepam tackles and help a lot, whithout no side effects at such low doses, the worst thing associated with RLS (actually the only one important, in my case): sleep; specifically, back-to-sleep after wake ups.

However, I have found out along the last five years or so. What have been controling my RLS strait way are the scientifically studied so-called energy techniques . That's include energy medicine and tapping: I know, nobody believes. It work only for me :).

all the best

Can you tell us more about how you do EFT Cowbsky? I tried it some years ago but didn't experience any change. Is there a particular protocol that you follow? Direct Message (DM) me if you prefer.

Me too please. I’d love to know more about how EFT is helping you.

fine. I will more than happy on trying help. Later today, I think. I just need some more time to put it. You know, grandchildreen around claiming for attention!

I could put in advance: any of those alternative techniques available (luckly, I found out that EFT and Energy Medicine match very well with my needs) to manage cronic ilness (such as RLS), would depend on knowledge first of all.

Understanding principles involved is crucial, helping on exploration, persistence, and on creating his/her own experience.

Starting gradually and slowly: plenty of well-based literature and instructions out there on those two I chosed. One has to be careful not loosing in the forest. Therefore, I would suggest starting with two books, one website, and some videos from Donna Eden, Gary Craig and Dawson Church

_Books: : (1) tapping manual by Dawson Church; (2) very recent launched "tappingg" by David Feinstein and his wife Donna Eden;

_ Dawson Church's website, where one can find thousands of sucessuful aplications of EFT, both for physical and emotions questions (as well as physically ilness derived from emotions): eftuniverse.com/ ... please go for this, on your notebook rather than on your cell phone (that because there is a bug for cell phone, which could prevent you from searching for some issue);

_ Some Dawson's videos on the basics of EFT;

_ Gary Craig's videos, in particular this one: ........youtube.com/watch?v=Ejl9VWB...

_ Donna Eden' video on Daily Energy Routine (I used it as a complemente to EFT). 80-year old Donna is the world master on Energy Medicine (if you want go deeper, go for her heavy book : Energy Medicine). Even though Donna has gave me some tips on RLS, she has no protocol or something like aspecifically oriented to RLS. However I found ou her Daily Energy Routine came as great complement to EFT in my case;

I would put in advance. As might going to see there is no standardized protocol. Of course, I am going to share mine, developed after some five-year experience. Still learned a lot. However there basic cake receipt, more sofisticated receipt, and, finally, your particular receipt after having a comprehensive vision of everything.

all the best
