fluid retention and RLS

Hello, writing for my mom again. Her RLS has come back. She has fluid retention in her feet, and legs due to CHF. Her RLS was under control with iron supplements. She wasn’t taking the supplements for about a month because she was hospitalized. She resumed the iron 2 weeks ago. But now her legs are swollen again, along with worsening RLS. She’s been on diuretics for about 2 years. Does fluid retention aggravate RLS?

Unfortunately all diuretics can exacerbate RLS, but you say that this was under control before her recent hospital stay: besides the temporary lack of iron supplements has there been any other recent change in her regime, e.g. a new BP medication?

No, nothing different, except her edema seems to be getting worse. She sees her Cardiologist this week.
