Personally whilst I can see merit in his story I think there is a bit more to it regarding the gut , interestingly one thing nearly all of us agree on is Sugar aggravates our RLS
4.4 million prescriptions for Ropinirole in the USA soon after it was licensed for RLS. There will have been many more millions issued in the following years. It's impossible to find out how many are on DAs here in the UK.
Sugar isn't a trigger for me, but I know it is for many.
I wonder if the glass of wine he mentioned was a bigger culprit. Any amount of alcohol will sKY rocket the RLS. I’m not a big sugar eater, but have not found any increase in RLS when I do, but again I am not bingeing on sugar. Other than alcohol, food/ beverages don’t seem to have a big impact.
“It is safe to say that RLS is a real clinical entity composed of clearly recognizable symptoms, with no cure and no ending[..]. However, as a disease, it seems to lack etiology, pathology, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnostic findings on physical examination, laboratory tests, or imaging, and any clear strategy for prevention.”
I do not agree with the sugar-part though, although it is definitely a trigger for many. Not me.
