Cannabis isnt effective atm so I need a 5 day break. Being sleep deprived from RL and insomnia just now is awful. I can't see my doctor to discuss methadone till after New Year. What to do? Doctor prescribed .25mg Pramipexole to try, but I'm too worried about augmentation to take these. BUT....I'm exhausted and I have some busy days ahead! Could I take these meds for just 2 or 3 nights only and be ok? Or could it cause 'problems' ie augmentation, even with a small one-off dose over such a short time? All your thoughts are welcome? I do feel stuck using cannabis only as RL is getting worse with age and hope that my doctor will be more helpful in 2024. Best wishes for Christmas and New Year.

Yes you can. Just be aware that it may make your RLS go away and you will be strongly tempted to continue using it. Don't! Perhaps throw away the excess pills so you can't.

I appreciate that you answered my post. I was struggling to decide, and I wholeheartedly agree about the temptation to keep using it. That is a strong reason to avoid it altogether! I think I needed a little support and sympathy from someone who 'gets It'. Thank you Sue.

I will use pramipexole if I know I need a good nights sleep. I hardly slept two nights ago and so, having to be up by 07:30 this morning I took a half of the lowest does tablet last night. However I only do this in emergency or strictly necessary situations. The last time I took any was when I was flying and at a conference. I took the half tablet a couple of hours before flying and a couple of times at nights for the conference. That was early November.

I would think that there's very little chance of augmentation with such a low intermittent dose.

I decided to do the same, I'm keeping the pramipexole tablets. I took one half on Christmas nightand that is all I'll take. It's is there in case of special circumstances . It's the first time taking the medication and I was astonished at how effective it was!
