Just popping back on with and update and request for thoughts please.Following my post earlier this month I've tapered down the gabapentin to 900mg as thought I would give that a go whilst taking iron.
The gabapentin wasn't totally controlling my RSL so thought it worth a try to see if it got worse not much change tbh.
So I spoke to GP again and requested pregabalin after 2 phone calls and resisting another DA that they tried to put me on, eventually they have given me 2x25mg of pregabalin daily 50mg / even with the tapering off of gabapentin I think it should be 150mg per day? Am I right? I'm scared this isn't going to give me any relief hence I've been asleep for an hour and now up.
Can I take gabapentin as well until they agree to increase my dose? I did think they were giving me enough to build up over a month but no just a months worth of 5Omg
daily
Feeling a bit fed up to say the least, it's such a battle.
Any help most welcome.

Yes it should be 150. If you take only 50 you will have withdrawal symptoms. You can combine 50 mg pregabalin with 600 mg of gabapentin and take them at the same time.
900mg gabapentin is equivalent to 150mg pregabalin.Yet again, epic fail by UK GPs.
Sigh.
So, ask for the equivalent dose and in the meantime, yes you can take both, but it rather defeats the point.
If I were you, I'd stay on 900mg gabapentin and send an email to the GP asking for the correct dose of pregabalin to allow a straight swap and no withdrawals.
lately, I tried getting up n have a very hot shower at all hour middle of the night, sometimes twice a night. it has helped me to break the miserable cycle.
Thank you everyone I just felt like I was talking to the wall with the GP he knew zero and had to keep ringing off and asking his senior doctor. I've had a terrible night but will increase my dose and tell them that's what I've done and ask for more pregabalin. I did take 600 gaba in the night but think it was a bit late for my RSL as it had already gone haywire.
I normally jump in a hot bath that helps so will try that again.
I'm probably getting to the point of paying for a private specialist but lets see how the pregabalin works. 🙏
