Gabapentin dose

Can someone (Sue?) clarify the point at which gabapentin looses efficacy?I've seen both 600 mgs and 900 mgs.

It doesn't lose effectiveness. It just isn't as well absorbed above 600 mg so doses should be taken 2 hours apart.

Thanks for that bit of info. I was taking 400mg Gabapentin and am up to 600...will keep that in mind.

I am on 800mg 3 times day. At that dose they work very well for me. I don't think they lose their efficiency at high doses. If I lower the dose I certainly feel the difference and have to increase again.

Just to clarify, 800mg x 3=2400 total per day, or is 800mg the total for the day?

What is the time frame that you are using?

Yes, 2400mg per day. 800 at 7am 800 at 2pm and 800 at 10pm.
