I have been taking 600mg of Gabapentin each evening for some months and as a result I have been getting more sleep. However recently, in the last 5 days, I have been having pains in the back of my head towards the morning. These are uncomfortable but disappear by late morning. I am concerned that the pains may be the side effect of the Gabapentin. Has anyone else experienced this ?

Effect of Gabapentin - pains in the head
Since you have been taking gabapentin for the last 11 months, it is unlikely that it is causing it. Headaches can be a side effect but they would show up soon after you began gabapentin. The NHS says "Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking gabapentin."
Also your headaches are showing up towards morning when the gabapentin is wearing off.
Headaches can be a symptom of gabapentin withdrawal, i.e. when you reduce the amount you are taking if you don't do it slowly enough. But that is not the case here. Is there anything else you have changed? New medicine, a change in your diet? If not or if so and correcting it doesn't change anything I would ask your doctor about it.
Could it be muscle strain, either from an unusual activity or sleeping awkwardly?
