I am writing this separately as there are two cases similar below that have the same suggestion.
Being "ignored or fobbed off."
My GP rather stonewalled me regarding this syndrome. I am appalled that the GP can do this (just blame Americanism, and whatever). This is a real issue. My heart goes out to you both.
After being left deflated I searched online and found a neurologist locally, checked the local hospital and it was the same man working both NHS and private. However it did mean i did have to stump up £300 for the private appointment. Some can't afford this I accept, but for me it was worth the money. I had an appointment within two weeks, and a 45 minute consultation. A FIRM letter was written back to the GP, and much progress has been made.
As I say it's not everyones answer, but in my case it worked.

The neurologist was Dr Mark Silva, accessed through the Winfield/Nuffield Cheltenham/Gloucester. I have to have a sleep test at the Radcliffe (Stop over for two days), but unfortunately delayed by me. I do sleep a lot better though now, i think he just wants to confirm his (different) diagnosis.
BTW he considers that i have REM sleep disorder. For the benefit of ignorance, what I have been told is.....
Normally when you dream your body produces hormones that effectively paralyses you. Think about it, if we didn't then we'd be reacting all over the bed. Sadly I am not producing (enough) of the chemical. You can tell these dreams begause they are unreal, like trying to lift an elephant with your leg.
