I take a low dose of pregabalin at 8:30pm (100 mg) and go to bed two hours later. I am generally very tired in the evenings (much more than I would like to be) and my question is that it seems that the pregabalin is causing nervousness. It used to be maybe once a week, but now it seems to be causing nervousness more regularly such that I can't get to sleep for hours. It seems to kick in about an hour after I take it and then my tiredness gets replaced with nervousness. Has anyone heard of or experienced this? I take magnesium threonate at 5:30pm nightly mainly for leg cramps.

Pregabalin nervousness?
Yes it can be a side effect of pregabalin although it is a pretty rare one. I assume you are no longer taking modafinal which you mentioned caused nervousness. There are OTC supplements that might help are Ashwagandha, L-theanine and Honokiol. A prescription medicine for anxiety is Buspar (Buspirone) which may actually help with RLS. Trazodone, a prescription medicine, helps both anxiety, insomnia and depression and also may help RLS. Always discuss these with your doctor.
Pregabalin is also used to treat anxiety so i wouldn't have thought so. You've been on pregabalin for some time now have you not? Given this, it's unlikely that it's causing your nervousness but not impossible.
Yes, I have been on Pregabalin for years. If there is a weird side effect, I will have it. Tylenol makes me nervous! I am one of the lucky ones who can tolerate few drugs. This "nervousness" was intolerable last night and I don't think I will be able to put another drug on top of it. I am going to take my magnesium (I take a lot) to before bed and take whatever earlier. I think I am going to try and switch to gabapentin again and see if I get lucky. I tried this switch a while back, and did report a night or two of nervousness in the couple of weeks I took it, but I took 900mg and I want to try a lower dose. I went back to the Pregabalin because the switch did nothing for my daytime sedation. And at the time of my switch I was having a number of other sleep compromising issues, one being severe leg cramps. Thanks so much for your comments. I will be checking back I am sure, or maybe just get some breathing room with this switch. I am blessed to have a gp who will work with me. (Yes none of the Modafanil type drugs were tolerable.)
I have had paradoxical reactions to more than one drug.
Is there any difference between weaning off Pregabalin or Gabapentin? I am not too optimistic about my future with these.
Hi,yes I can relate to all what your describing, I take Pregabalin 100mg,which I really can't say helps,I take Magnesium bisglycinate but have lately had to start taking Buspirone as I feel nervous and anxious. I feel hopeless as nothing seems to give me ease not even one night, I'm going on holiday tomorrow so not too confident about the whole situation but I'm living in hope.🙏
For what it is worth, 100mg of pregabalin is a very low dose and most people require more to get relief. I am unusual in this regard.
Hi thankyou for replying, I do agree but I did try 2 75mgs a few nights and found it made me fuzzy and light headed, went to the loo (which is at the top of the stairs) through the night and almost fell down,I do take 2 co-codamol as well,it's all about experimenting and getting the right dose that works for each of us.
Oh,that looks like I tried 275mg, it two 75mgs 🤭
I found pregabalin had the opposite effect and really helped reduce anxiety which is what it normally does. However as above, some people find the opposite. That's a benefit of this forum that we get to hear a lot of different experiences and not just the standard position for most people.
