Yesterday I woke up feeling really rough, banging headache and nausea. I took some OTC paracetamol and codeine (12mg),one dose at 5 a.m and the last at 10.30 a.m. I do occasionally use this at night to help with RLS, but in this case I had nothing at all after 10.30 a.m. Yesterday evening I had an evening and night absolutely free of RLS. This is unheard of normally, but I have noticed it before on the odd occasion when I have felt very unwell. I think I have seen it commented on before on this forum but can't find any threads. Does anyone know why this happens please? I don't wish to be permanently unwell but to have such a relaxed evening was wonderful!

Strange?
I did comment one time that I noticed a big reduction in RLS when I was feeling stressed and generally unwell. I wondered wether this was because of an increase in blood pressure due to the stress/illness ( my GP told me raised blood pressure is a natural response to illness) but I have no evidence it s purely anecdotal.

This has been reported several times by members free of RLS symptoms while they had Covid. It's been theorised that as Covid and other illnesses cause inflammation and that ferritin levels can be elevated by inflammatory processes this may give temporary relief from RLS symptoms. (Other theories may also be available)
As I said on my post when I was going through chemo I was completely free of RLS but it came back when chemo finished. I do have the very odd night of being free of it for no reason and I realise how better my life would be without it. As I have got older it has got worse but I am not as bad as what some people go through on this forum
