Hi,is anyone experiencing a constant noise in their ears while on Pregabalin, I'm unsure if Pregabalin is the cause but I believe the noise did start around the time I took the meds.i would like to know if there is a cure for this as it is horrible,I am on meds for high blood pressure and cholesterol so I'm trying to establish which meds it is.

Other members have reported the same thing: tinnitus has been reported as a common (1-10%) pregabalin side effect; and I don't know which BP meds you are on, but losartan is also sometimes associated with tinnitus.

Hi,I'm on Losartan and Lercanidipine for high BP.

Ok: occurrence of tinnitus with losartan is given as 'unknown frequency', so not common: I am on losartan and it doesn't happen to me. BNF does not list tinnitus against lercanidipine.

Most likely cause from this list is probably therefore the pregabalin.

But can of course be other causes. See following for more info:

Hi ChrisColumbus thankyou for replying,I just read the information on Tinnitus and found it really helpful,I feel I should talk to my gp about this as I definitely have the symptoms relating to Pulsatile Tinnitus so thanks again for referring me to this information.

I have pulsatile tinnitus and can't sleep at night unless I take ambien, which of course I can't take every night.

Hi,SueJohnson,I have some hissing noises in my ears for a long time now and put it down to meds.the pulse I'm having now is relatively recent although I did feel it off and on ,it's an every night occurance lately, have to confess I was not aware of Pulatile Tinnitus until I saw it on this forum,I'm in Northern Ireland so I'm unsure of treatments here but feel I need to talk to my gp about it thankyou.

Besides the ambien I bought a headband that has small earphones sewn in and connects via bluetooth to my iPhone where you can get apps with various noises. I like the rain ones and they work if the pulsatile tinnitus isn't too loud in which case I take ambien. Unfortunately lately it seems loud every night. I have a doctor's appointment with an ENT specialist on April 21st.

I have very strange singing in my head. At the moments it is the “Drifters”. I can sometimes understand why if I have been in church for example but otherwise it is purely random.

I tried pregabalin for 6 mths up to 400mg but had a number of unpleasant side effects including tinnitus. I also lost my sense of smell, memory loss and blurry vision. It was so disappointing as I was hoping it would work but it didn't help RL at all. It was my first time taking medication for RL so simply expected it would work. I hope your tinnitus will ease off as it can be quite unpleasant.

Hi,thankyou for replying, can you please tell me if you have changed from Pregabalin to another med.the tinnitus is awful, and also it's not really helping my RLS.

Hi, I finished with Pregabalin mid January and have been taking cannabis edibles of and on since then. It's about 1 to 2 tspns of cannabutter and mostly it works well eases RL and aids sleep. Only thing is developing tolerance so I have 4 days on 3 days off to avoid that. My doctor has just prescribed codeine to try low dose opiods. I'm very reluctant to take medication because of side effects. I hope you will find something that works well, it's such a exhausting disease. I'll still try different things but my backbackup will be cannabis when it all gets too much.

The cause of the tinnitus is the same as the cause of your high cholesterol , RLS and high blood pressure. Pregabalin may be suppressing the symptoms of RLS but does nothing to address the cause which is systemic inflmmation caused by ingesting inflammatory foods like refined sugars and starches (eg bread) and ingesting refined seed oils and possibly artificial preservatives in processed foods. Cholesterol is made in your liver from excess glycogen which comer from high carb foods like refined sugar and starch (bread, cakes & b

Inflammation may be a cause for tinnitus for some but not all. I have had tinnitus all my life and have been tested for inflammation and don't have it.

Most people will have some level of inflammation, it just depends on the threshold that the tester has set whether yours is significant in his eyes.
