COPD and RLS

I have emphysema and have tried many inhalers and every one of them aggravated the restless legs. I am on Ropinirole, but still and all it got impossible for me to take.

Are there any inhalers for COPD that would not aggravate the legs. My doctor feels it necessary to use inhalers, but I refuse as I cannot tolerate the restless legs at all and almost rather not breathe.

There’s a new-ish once a day medication for COPD. Can you take that once a day medication for COPD earlier in the day so that maybe it won’t bother you when you go to bed? Anyways, here’s something new for COPD. health.ucdavis.edu/news/hea...

I am definitely to old for this type of surgery, going on 84. Thanks for the information though.

It’s a 30 minute procedure done under sedation and they go thru nose or mouth so no cutting. But that three days in bed and no coughing would do me in.

Do you know the actual name of this procedure. I would like to see if it is not done in New York, or New Jersey or Pennsylvania.

Thank you. I am going to look into this type of procedure, but not sure if I would be a candidate as I am going on 84, and have other medical issues.

"You must be at least 22 years old to be eligible, and there is no upper age limit. Individuals may qualify for EBV treatment if they have advanced emphysema or severe COPD and are highly symptomatic despite receiving optimal medical treatment."

I need to find a doctor in my area for this.

Good luck! I can see that it's offered at Yale, but haven't tried researching NY, NJ or PA.

Endobronchial valve placement procedure.

With your doctor’s permission you should try taking 25 to 50mg of ferrous bisglycinate about an hour before bed on an empty stomach. I read that more iron/higher ferritin = more oxygen to respiratory system. Plus, the iron taken just that way, may act as an add on to the Ropinirole and reduce systems, starting with day one. The iron works for me.

I didn't mention it, bit I have hemochromatosis which is high ferritin iron, so I don't thinks but thank you.

I woul hazard a guess that you are suffering from systemic infflammation which is causing both the restless legs and the COPD. There may be multiple causes to systemic inflammation (you can google 'foods that cause innflammation') but the most common are white bread and sugar, avoid both and you'lll notice a marked improvement.

Actually my COPD (emphysema) was caused by me being a very heavy smoker for many years. The RLS on the other hand is genetic as my father had it as well as his mother and other family members. A true curse.

Just becaure RLS tends to run in families doenn't necesarilly make it genetic. It could just as well be learned dietaru habits.Fy father had RLS yet I eliminated mine by changing my diet.

My doctor has said the same, it's important to keep the inhalers, I'm on salbutamol, tiotropium bromide 18microgram and symbacort, ropinirole seems to be working atm taking twice a day, I've also cut my sertraline down by 50mg to just 100mg a day.

What is the doseage of ropinirole you take and how long have you taken it. I fear augmentation from the ropinirole. I have been on the ropinirole for about 3 years already, taking 1 1/2 pills of the lowest dose of it per nite. I fear upping the dose. Curious to know about your experience.

Would appreciate any ideas. Gabapentin and pregablin cause breathing issues for copd sufferers. Are there any medicine alternatives?
