Are there examples of folks recovering from DA augmentation to the point that they no longer need any medication (ie: opioids)?

Possibly - if their ferritin is low and they improve it to 100 or more.

I was so hoping that would be the case. Sadly no! I have no quality in life and struggle working without medication. Hope, someone else has come of meds completely after augmentation:(

Well, I never went on any meds - although they were waved at me repeatedly "this is the only thing that will work!" As tired and sleep deprived as I was - THIS forum convinced me DAs were a dead end street! Iron supplements completely eliminated my severe RLS (alas, but not the protracted insomnia).

That all said - if you google reset Dopamine Receptors - there are many articles and videos with suggestions to naturally do this. It is big in the drug addiction recovery community.

I came off Pramipexole the minute I got sudden onset augmentation. It was a MISERABLE 6 weeks, but the augmented symptoms disappeared. I have not returned to medication and don’t plan to. I am currently in a study evaluating the use of a wearable device. Itis a double blind study so I don’t know if I have the sham device or the real one. I find out in two days. If I had the sham device I will then be trialed with the real device. I hope I have the sham device, because it hasn’t helped. I have used TNS pretty successfully in the past and will return to that as soon as I’m done with the study.
