hi everyone, I've been on Pregablin for a good few months and find I'm suffering from severe constipation, when I was on other meds prescribed for RLS I did suffer but not nearly as bad as now.my diet is good,I eat lots of greens, fruit, drink lots of water, the general things advised in order to help, but I'm really concerned this time as I do take laxatives which worked prior to Pregablin but not now, please excuse for enquiring on such a personal subject but I can't believe I'm the only one suffering from this effect of Pregablin, any suggestions ta.

Magnesium is brilliant for constipation but stops absorption of pregabalin so take the Magnesium 3 hours before pregabalin.I use magnesium citrate but the cheaper oxide works just as well. I take 3 pills at night and it stops Opioid induced constipation.

I promise you, you are not the only one! I tend to monitor it on a day by day basis. As soon as I start to get constipated (ie hard stools) that that night I take a Senacot Max. In the days before I took Pregabalin, that would have usually "cleared me out quite quickly", but since taking Pregabalin, it sometimes barely makes any difference, so I keep taking one a night until something happens. Then I give it a day to see if my body will "right itself". As I said, just monitor day by day, and take appropriate action until you feel that you know what to do, how much to take, and when.

Thankyou 67Waterman,as if the RLS wasn't enough torture. I would usually take Dulcalax but will try Senacot Max.

And if it doesn't work the first night, then take another one the next night, and keep going until it does.

Hi, I find taking Flax seeds (linseed) on my breakfast a desert spoon. Works well. It won't work straight away but be patient it will start to work and it's a natural seed. No more purging with different types of constipation meds.

Thankyou cumoneileen ,I've been told to try Chia seeds in Water, now I can generally take most things but oh my Lord it was like drinking Frogspawn yuk.I am willing to try anything in order to feel better,so I will give Flaxseeds a try.

Oh my, sounds awful. Flax seeds on cereals so easy, on any food but cereals the best. Good luck.

Yeah those chia seeds do look like frog eggs! I'm not on pregabalin - just some more choices for you. I have had good luck with Smooth Move Tea (Traditional Medicinals) and an herbal blend call Triphala.

I have suffered constipation my whole life. It’s horrible and very toxic for the body and health.

I’ve tried everything. Including Colonic Irrigation once a month which cleans out the bowels but I couldn’t afford and it’s not recommended too frequently and I still got constipated in between visits.

I hated taking over the counter laxatives due to horrible cramping ,nausea, diarrhoea. I tried natural concoctions which tasted disgusting but kind of worked but i couldn’t continue to drink them.

The answer for me was Colon Cleanse- it’s magnesium oxide powder. It’s in a white container with maroon label from Health Shops or online. I take one small teaspoon(5gm)Mixed in juice usually twice a week. No cramps no nausea no diarrhoea.

Colon Cleanse works by absorbing water into bowel resulting in a formed motion - (unless you take too much of course) . It usually works within 24 hrs but can take 48hrs if depending on how many days you’ve been constipated and how much water you drink Which helps it work quicker.

I don’t normally post on here - i just read others posts on RLS but this problem I’ve had longer than the RLS so I felt I should share.

Wishing you success with these two horrible afflictions.

hi Nightmover,ta for your reply. I too have always suffered from constipation but never as bad as recently. I agree, some laxatives are awful to take.I recently visited a Kinisiologist, she recommended i send for a variety of stuff including Magnesium Citrate which is in powder form.I take it twice a day, drinking loads of water and eating recommended fruits.I do still have to resort to an over the counter laxative because im terrified to get so constipated again, your absolutely right about it being toxic for our body.If i find that the Magnesium im taking now is not effective i will consider the one you have recommended, thankyou again.
