I’m curious to know if many fellow sufferers of RLS on have found that Oramorph makes their symptoms worse.

It is an opoid, at best it will hide symptoms not treat causes.

Does it for you, stelkadevico? That would be exceptional, as opioids are used to very effectively treat RLS symptoms.

Or did you get rls after using it BC for a while? Withdrawal from opioids can or usually does generate rls-like symptoms. That should be temporarily.

I was given oramorph after surgery and I spent the night walking around the room. I am blaming the oramorph but now I’m beginning to wonder if it was something in the anaesthetic nerve block that was injected post surgery since I have read all through this site that opioids should help RLS

I have no experience myself. But have a look around the posts. I think it is the anti-nausea medicine that usually induces the RLS symptoms. I hope it resolves soon or has resolved already

I a totally take oramorph for my RLS and it works. Anti nausea drugs after surgery triggers symptoms.

I’ve not found any difference in my RLS but the pain relief helps me sleep for a couple of hours.

They put me on that a few years ago. Yes it works. BUT.....it also caused me to get extremely addicted to tje medication. I've never had any kind of addiction problem and I never abused my meds. You have to wean very very slow. And it's miserable going through getting off of it. The best advice I. An give you is to throw that down the toilet. It's not for rls and doctors that prescribe that for rls, you should probably be concerned about. I have RLS so severe that its caused me to he suicidal several times. The only thing that has worked for me is Mirapex. It's for Parkinsons and now used for severe RLS. After what I went through with oramorph, please take my warning seriously amd ask for Mirapex! I totally understand the horrible misery rls causes some people. I have punched my arms and legs to the point of looking like my husband beat me up. The pain would make the rls better. I have augmentation which causes the rls to go up Into my shoulders. That started about 40 and I'm now 49. Mirapex saved my life.

I am glad it has worked for you, but please don't recommend it to anyone else as up to 70% of people will eventually suffer from augmentation. It is no longer the first line treatment for RLS for that reason since it can be very difficult to get off it once one suffers from augmentation and if on it long enough the dopamine receptors may be damaged and then gabapentin which is the first line treatment won't work.
